Today we welcomed a new team member 👏 What you see: people gathering, eating cookies 🍪 and drinking milk 🥛 (cookies in the cafe, obviously) and engaged with each other. What you don't see: the game that we were playing, which was hilarious, insightful and encouraging. Every time someone new joins our team, Drew Harden makes up a game. You never know what it's going to be, but you do know a few things for sure: 1. It will be hilarious & fun 2. It will be super random 3. It will shed light on our culture 4. It will help the new employee see a little of each person's personality 5. It will be something everyone looks forward to happening again and is glad we did it Today's game: 1. Say the name and the job of the person on your left (department, general job area) 2. If they (the person to your left) had a stand at the farmer's market, what would it be? Can you guess what David Wanat said mine would be? Comment your answers below 👇

What have biscotti got to do with creating the perfect team? Baking biscotti at Christmas has become a family tradition. When my girls were at primary school, I used to bake batches for the teachers at school. The first time I baked biscotti, I was sure I was doing it wrong. The dough was so sticky. Then you add a huge pile of fruit, nuts and zest. As you knead the dough, you think it's never going to come together. But you keep going. You trust it will work out because you've done it so many times before. Soon it gets smooth and easy. The fruit and nuts are properly distributed. You have the perfect dough. Just like creating a team. At first everything feels sticky and lumpy. You can't see how it's going to work out but you have confidence in the process. Then the team starts to bond. There's a cohesiveness and collaboration. All the right skills assigned to the right tasks. A high-performing team is a thing of beauty. It's inspiring to watch a team come together and get the project done, with just the right amount of zest and spice.

Here’s a whimsical thought to keep in mind when forming a multi-functional team for a project. Think about Bacon and Eggs. When making bacon & eggs note that the pig is committed and the chicken is involved. Get as many pigs as you can on your team.

https://lnkd.in/d_6FeXkS The Ingredients of a Successful Team In a team, each member brings unique qualities and strengths that contribute to the overall success, much like different ingredients in cooking. Here's a small note using the example of cooking a vegetable dish: 1. **Salt**: Essential and reliable, salt represents the dependable team member who consistently delivers quality work and ensures everything runs smoothly. 2. **Sugar**: Adding sweetness, sugar symbolizes the team member who brings positivity, motivation, and keeps morale high. 3. **Rai (Mustard Seeds)**: Though small, mustard seeds have a strong impact, much like the innovative and creative member whose ideas may be small but are powerful and transformative. 4. **Butter**: Rich and versatile, butter represents the adaptable team member who can take on multiple roles and excel in various tasks, adding richness to the team's capabilities. 5. **Haldi Powder (Turmeric)**: Known for its health benefits and vibrant color, haldi represents the team member who brings energy, healing, and resilience to the team, ensuring it stays strong and vibrant. Each ingredient, like each team member, plays a crucial role in achieving the perfect balance and success of the team.

I wish every team faces hard times! I have often heard and read posts about culture and how “we are one team”, “we are a family” etc. But how do you actually find out if that’s the case for you? Everything is anyways going well during the happy moments. There are team dinners & parties & outings. There are cultural celebrations & fun Fridays & secret Santa. And while this is an amazing thing to have, what it does is that it sometimes could give a fake sense of togetherness. The real strength or toughness or togetherness of a team is tested only during hard times. When you are sick but there are urgent deliveries, when important deadlines are nearing and time is short, when there is a production problem and the team is panicking and the client is continuously calling, what do you do in these situations? How does your team react here? Do you stand for each other and take ownership or play blame games? Does the team help each other unload the pressure or get going because their “9 hours” are completed? Answering these questions is really important. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below 👇 Gaurav Shirwalkar
