I'm glad to share that the third article my Ph.D. thesis has been recently published! Thank you very much to the co-authors Juan José Pons Izquierdo, Germán Ramos Ruiz, Ana Sánchez-Ostiz and Aurora Monge. The paper is entitled "Facing Climate Change in a Temperate European City: Urban-Scale Diagnosis of Indoor Overheating and Adaptation Strategies for Residential Buildings". This paper analyses the indoor overheating of residential dwellings in Pamplona (a city in northern Spain) using an urban-scale diagnostic methodology and presents different envelopes’ retrofitting scenarios as a strategy to reduce it.  This study may provide some ideas and recommendations to urban planners and technicians when rehabilitating buildings, assists policy-makers in preventing the risk of overheating within cities and encourages them to promote nature-based solutions in order to adapt urban residential buildings and cities to warming conditions. Similarly, it's vital that researchers are reminded about what we can learn from the historic built environment... which is, of course, A LOT. So if you're a professional working in this field and can get to Guimarães next year, I do hope you'll consider putting in an abstract to share your work and your thoughts with an international audience, who are certain to be interested!

🚀 Our latest paper on the 15-Minute City has just been published in Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice! 🌍 In this open-access paper, we provide a comprehensive analysis of how 15-minute cities are being implemented worldwide. A new article was recently published in the academic journal "Earth's Future" co-authored by Pacific Institute Researcher Emilio Mateo, Ph.D.. “Practitioners’ Needs for Addressing the Challenges of Sea-Level Rise-A Qualitative Assessment” explores a series of interventions towards building resilience for sea-level rise. Congratulations to Ms Jennie Larsson from Sweden who successfully defended her PhD dissertation entitled “Improving the Performance of Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Sustainable Development in Coastal Areas. Sweden (Hanö Bay) as a case study”. Coastal areas are under threat from human activities and climate change, necessitating new governance structures to ensure their sustainable management and conservation. Ms Larsson's research investigates how to improve the performance of local multi-stakeholder partnerships (M-SPs) in coastal areas, promoted as key mechanisms for achieving sustainable development goals. By drawing on stakeholder theory and using Pattberg & Widerberg’s (2014) analytical framework with nine building blocks for successful M-SPs as a foundation, the study examined drivers, challenges, and success factors of local M-SPs, as well as how these factors relate to one another. The research identifies the critical role of relational aspects in improving the performance of coastal M-SPs. WMU’s PhD programme offers students the opportunity to carry out research across the maritime field, but with an emphasis on issues related to the International Maritime Organization’s mission of maritime safety, security and environmental protection. Our doctoral programme offers unrivalled access to international maritime experts both inside and outside academia, and to organizations working at the forefront of research and development. The global water crisis requires innovative solutions, and one promising strategy is rainwater harvesting with potential to meet the water supply needs of growing urban areas. But how can we scale these initiatives and ensure their financial sustainability? In this new paper, led by Mariana Portal Carús as part of her Oxford Water Network MSc dissertation, we explore these questions through the case of Mexico City, where droughts challenge traditional infrastructure and institutional schemes. https://lnkd.in/eS5eAKT8
