It's your 2nd week at Stripe. You're just happy to be there. Your boss gives you an opportunity to post-produce a user video. 'For what?' you ask. 'Sessions'. #StripeSessions, the internet economy conference and the biggest public-facing event led by Stripe all year. You put your head down and get to to work. 3 weeks and lots of hard work later, you see the first project you worked on at the final stage. It's being played live in front of hundreds of conference attendees. You're pinching yourself. This is what you've wanted for years. You think back to when you've been told 'with a little more work' or 'maybe next time' you could achieve something like this. But stop for a second. You DID achieve this. And you work toward the next big video project, knowing the result will be equally gratifying because your work is acknowledged. And you're just getting started. Life is good.

Today is day 5 of my journey at Ramp! I've been following Ramp ever since my time at Stripe and it's been incredible to see the company's explosive growth. A couple of quick takeaways: 1. Every day counts - Ramp writes the days that the company has been in existence at the front of presentations to put things into perspective. What have we done in the last 30 days and how can we ensure the next 30 days get us closer to our goals? 2. Customers love the product - And it's by design, the product and engineering teams are laser focused on what customers care about and collaborate with different teams to deeply understand each persona. 3. Incredible talent - The folks I've spoken to so far embody a rare combination of ownership, curiosity, and humility. The energy at the New York office is contagious and I look forward to learning more in the coming weeks.

🚀Today, I’m taking the biggest leap of my life. I'm stepping away from my dream job at Stripe inspired to chase a new dream. Through my time at Stripe and LinkedIn I've seen a clear trend: 84% of B2B buyers start their buying journey with a referral, but only 30% of sales teams are really using this advantage 🤔 That's the reason I, along with my awesome co-founders Kévin and Rémi am launching Reaz. Our mission is straightforward: help businesses unlock the huge power of word-of-mouth, making it their top growth tool 🚀 Curious? Discover more about our mission at Reaz : https://www.reaz.co A big thanks to everyone who’s been a part of my journey so far.❤️ Here's to the exciting next chapter! 🤩 P.S. I'm now back in France 🇫🇷🥖

This is something that's been bothering me lately. 😤 A lot of folks these days just don't have that sense of ownership over their work. They let themselves become victims, defined by work struggles, instead of taking control and facing challenges head-on. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash anyone here. At Stripe, I was fortunate to work with Claire Hughes Johnson who helped us better understand this concept. The unique analogy addressed by her in this video raises an important point. When things go wrong You see kids trying to cover up their mistakes by building stories You see people in sports trying to blame weather and equipment You see drivers blaming accidents on bad roads instead of acknowledging risky driving habits. Similarly, as professionals, we face challenges and setbacks, but how we respond can make or break our success. - Acknowledge the situation - Take ownership - Learn from the experience - Outline steps to resolve the problem Because at the end of the day, You are not a victim of your circumstances. Rather, you might be one for how you deal with your problems.

Today I’m reflecting on my 2nd anniversary at #stripe. There are a few things that I really admire and appreciate about the company and leadership… — Transparency. Of course not everyone needs to know or should know everything, but the culture of transparency at Stripe is refreshing and creates a feeling of intimacy and trust within the company that makes me want to earn and protect it. My favorite meeting of the week is the Fireside Chat on Fridays where John and Patrick Collison bring Stripe customers to talk to us and share feedback, have product groups do demos so we feel connected to the business and share thoughts that are top of mind. They also interact with and answer questions from a live slack channel during these meetings. — Kindness. When I joined I would never have believed that after 2 years, working through stressful and important projects with several functional groups, that I would have seen nothing but true kindness and respect in every interaction. People don’t agree all the time, and priorities aren’t the same, but I have not yet witnessed any example of rudeness, contempt, drama or political reactions. — Expertise. Man, do I work with some super smart people. And they are willing to roll up their sleeves and get the stuff done. — Fun. These really smart people laugh, joke and smile through some of the most complex, hard and stressful stuff. It’s been a good 2 years :)

In 2018, three former Stripe employees set out with a bold vision to revolutionize customer support operations. Now, six years later, the company they started has reached a significant milestone of its own: a team of 100 strong. To mark this achievement, we spoke with some early hires who not only shaped the culture but continue to embody our values to this day. Here are a few themes that emerged across all interviews: 🤝 At Assembled, we believe in the power of empathy and genuine connection. Our cultural value to "act like a support agent" shines through in the kindness and dedication of our team. 🔄 Feedback is a cornerstone of our growth. We embrace the philosophy that "feedback is a gift," fostering an environment where giving and receiving feedback empowers us to innovate and excel. 🌟 No prior experience? No problem! Our team members continually step outside their comfort zones, embracing new roles with enthusiasm and excelling in ways they never imagined. Ready to meet the Assemblers who helped make the company what it is today? Find their stories on our blog. https://hubs.ly/Q02DZ8Gk0

What an incredible day at Stripe Sessions! How many managers will reconsider their 1:1s after Jensen Huang's thought-provoking speech? With 60 direct reports, Jensen opts for a unique approach—meeting everyone at once. This way, strategies, issues, and failures are discussed openly, fostering a culture where collective learning thrives. It's a strategy that ensures alignment and keeps everyone informed. Jensen's emphasis on those reporting directly to the CEO requiring minimal oversight or career guidance certainly got me thinking. Without a doubt, Jensen's talk was one of the highlights of #stripesessions. Can't wait to see what day 2 holds! #stripesessions2024

This was a fun one to record! Rob Biederman and I talked: * Lessons learned on early hardware products like Spectacles * My advice to emerging managers on raising your first VC fund * Why I chose to start my own VC firm vs join a bigger one * What I look for in founders (the big 3) * What worked as an operator may not work as a GP * Deep sea creatures and Norway * What I'd be doing if not VC (hint: in the research realm) * Advice for founders on raising in this environment (and really, anytime)
Today on HCIBH?, Amber Illig, General Partner at The Council, joins Rob Biederman to talk about her time working at major tech companies like Apple, Snap Inc., and Cruise as well as the lessons she learned from branching out on her own as an investor. You won't want to miss Amber's secret tips for VCs looking to get their name out! https://lnkd.in/eTgm9kcw
