⭐The BYD SEAL dives into the European market with a 5-star rating ⭐ Euro NCAP recently conducted safety testing on the Chinese manufacturer BYD's large, electric family car. The SEAL performs well, receiving five stars covering adult, child, vulnerable user protection, and safety assist protection that considers active safety technologies. The effects of climate change have necessitated manufacturers to consider other safety aspects in a car's design. SEAL has a well-working system to navigate the event of vehicle submergence. It is also equipped with a 'child presence detection', system but was not rewarded as it did not meet Euro NCAP's requirements. Today, Euro NCAP releases the results for three #Chinese #electric family #cars: the BYD SEAL, XPENG P7 and the BYD DOLPHIN. These cars have made their first splash in Europe’s market with the glamorous BYD SEAL targeting TESLA’s core buyers, the sleek XPENG P7 showcasing its long-distance range capability, and the BYD DOLPHIN underlining its value for money as an electric vehicle. Euro NCAP today reveals that these cars have all achieved five-star ratings in the programme’s most stringent testing yet. In today’s super-competitive European car market, #Chinese manufacturers are keen to demonstrate that their cars are a match for better-established brands. And the cars released today show that #safety is one of the areas where they compete, to the benefit of car-buyers. All three have achieved Euro NCAP’s highest star rating, with little to choose between them, particularly in the areas of adult and child #crash #protection. And all three are well-equipped with an impressive range of #safety #technologies, including lane and speed assistance.

Safe System Snippet – Same Vehicle, Different Safety Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) tests are undertaken on standard vehicles, without bullbars or other accessories fitted.  As part of the ANCAP rating, a vehicle must provide protection to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users that may be struck by the vehicle. ANCAP’s testing protocols for pedestrian impacts are not designed to assess impacts with bullbars or other frontal protection devices. #Safety is such an important topic in the #carindustry that manufacturers often divide it in two. Active safety is more intuitive because it regards protecting the passengers as much as possible during an accident. Passive safety, in turn, concerns preventing such events. That means making the #car behave in a controlled way and anticipate any situations that could pose a risk in order to avoid them. The #moosetest is an indicator of how safe the car is. In short, it consists of a double swerve done at highway speeds. It simulates the car's ability to move away from an unexpected obstacle, like an animal crossing the street. The Km77 magazine has subjected the #MercedesAMG SL 63 to this test. It successfully performed the swerves at the starting speed of 75 km/h (46.6 mph), which meets the standard of its market category. That result was achieved using the Comfort driving mode, which is the most appropriate for highway driving. The #Sport mode allows more oversteer, which is suitable only for track days. ⭐The BYD DOLPHIN makes a splash with a 5-star rating ⭐ Euro NCAP recently performed the latest safety assessment on the small electric family car of the Chinese manufacturer BYD. The DOLPHIN jumps high with five stars, particularly noted in adult and child safety protection. It also comes equipped with a range of safety technologies. In line with Euro NCAP's 2023 update of the safety protocols, the DOLPHIN includes child presence detection to alert drivers of infants left in a vehicle. BYD also proved that if the car became submerged in extreme weather conditions, the locked doors could be unlocked within two minutes of power loss, and electric windows would function long enough for occupants to escape. 💡 TfL Regulations: What You Need to Know to Stay Compliant Transport for London have introduced new regulations for HGVs over 12 tonnes from October 2024. HGVs will be required to have a three-star DVS rating or install the Progressive Safe System. A three-month transition period will be offered to the industry to comply with the new regulations. 🚚 The Direct Vision Standard system (and the Progressive Safe System requirement) were established as one of the measures of the London Vision Zero action plan. The aim of Vision Zero is to eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries through a series of initiatives that involve improving road infrastructure, enforcing traffic regulations, promoting safer vehicle design, and raising public awareness about road safety.
