There’s a major storm heading towards Baja California Sur. In 2014 Hurricane Odile almost completely destroyed certain areas on the Baja Calfornia Sur Peninsula The New Creation Kids Children’s Home in La Paz for example suffered extensive damage. Some buildings were completely destroyed. The airport in SJD was closed for weeks. Overall, more than 11,000 people were evacuated from their homes due to flooding. At least 135 people were injured and miraculously only a dozen were killed (as reported). Total damage from Odile amounted to MXN$16.6 billion (US$1.25 billion). Leaders2Give are now making preparations to protect the work that’s already been completed on the John Gullo Home for Children and the crew working there. Meanwhile, the most vulnerable populations are facing extreme risk and hardship. Let’s all hope, plan, and pray for the best, and prepare for the worst. Please consider making a proactive donation to any organization that can help Baja California Sur’s most vulnerable. #weareallinthistogether

With the start of hurricane season, being less than a week away now is the perfect time to check on what supplies you currently have so that you have time to restock. Here are 3 things you can check for: 💊 Check to see if any of the emergency supplies have expired. Some medications may be less potent after the expiration date. 💗 Check to make sure all supplies are age appropriate. If your family has grown, you may need additional supplies. 🧽 Make sure nothing is damaged or leaking in your supply container. For example, batteries can corrode over time, and packaged goods can open by accident. If you need assistance with organization, unpacking, or preparing for a move, book your FREE consultation today. #hurricane #storm #season #getorganized #declutter #purge #donate #organizingpro #homeorganizer #houstonhomeorganizer #professionalorganizerhouston #hireaprofessionalorganizer #blackprofessionalorganizers #womenowned #NABPO #NAPO #Texas #harriscounty #montgomerycounty #galvestoncounty #iOrganize #YouMatter2Us #fyp #foryou https://lnkd.in/gNMhHxTC

As a company deeply committed to Latin America, we remain dedicated to raising awareness and gathering support for those suffering from the impact of Hurricane Otis in Mexico. While its news coverage is gradually fading, we cannot forget the profound suffering endured by the people of Acapulco, Guerrero. The hurricane's fury demolished critical infrastructure, cut off basic services, and tragically resulted in casualties and missing individuals. The situation is dire, and the people of Acapulco are enduring unimaginable hardships. Due to the severe lack of food, water, and essential supplies, the desperation of the affected communities has escalated. Vandalism has ravaged the commercial stores in Acapulco to the point where there are no longer any shops to purchase much-needed provisions. We ask you to continue donating and sending your thoughts and prayers to those affected by Hurricane Otis in Mexico. Your generosity and compassion can make a significant difference in the lives of those who have lost so much. Read my latest report for The Conference Board ESG Center, on how leading companies are responding to #naturaldisasters. #disaster #philanthropy #csr #socialimpact #corporatecitizenship #esg
Wildfires in Maui. Hurricane Idalia in Tampa. Tropical storm Hilary in California. They are just a few of the events in today’s era of #naturaldisasters, with 2023 poised to be a record year for US climate and weather catastrophes. While 61% of US companies have raised their total philanthropy giving for natural disasters levels in recent years, fewer than half are conducting planning exercises to prepare for future disasters. 🌀 🔥 Read our new report, produced in collaboration with E4E Relief, to learn more about Corporate America’s #disasterphilanthropy practices: https://lnkd.in/e6SbGGeP

Director of Marketing @ HubSpot Partner Agency | Helping Complex Industries with Lead Gen and Growth Using Inbound Marketing
**Personal post alert. Because real life affects our work lives.** I’m asking for prayers and consideration for my brother-in-law Ulises, his family, and his community of Acapulco. If you’re unaware (cuz it’s hardly gotten media coverage…) 9 days ago Hurricane Otis, the strongest hurricane to ever hit the Pacific coast, made a direct hit to Acapulco and one of Mexico's poorest states, Guerrero. It’s bad enough for a Category 5 hurricane to hit with 200+ MPH winds and zero notice to evacuate. But when your government is largely corrupt, there’s no insurance, no FEMA, no National Guard, and no relief organizations set up to operate in your country… it’s devastating. My extended family there is still without power, food, and clean water, and will be likely for the foreseeable future. Ulises is on his way there with a suitcase of supplies for his neighborhood (protein bars, hygiene products, vitamins, mosquito repellent, medicine, etc.). He is also hoping to help his community with more food and building supplies by traveling to other cities to purchase supplies. If you will, pray for: • his safety in physical travel and that his supplies don’t get robbed in transit protection of his family and neighbors’ property from looters and squatters • for water and power to be restored • for the government to allow relief organizations in, and for relief organizations to want to help • for the government to protect what little supplies are being distributed from pirating And if you’re so inclined, here is his Go Fund Me page so he can help more people: https://lnkd.in/gzzbqwZw #hurricaneotis #acapulco

Today, as we find ourselves in another hurricane season, ViviendasLeón would like to reflect on the experience of last year’s Hurricane Julia’s impact in Nicaragua. The damages reported by the #rural and #indigenous #communities of #Goyena and #Troilo were numerous, ranging from partial damage to total crop loss and partial damage to houses. The communities of Goyena and Troilo experienced an extended period without electricity service due to damaged electrical transmission lines. Despite the damage caused by the storm, the farmers we trained were able to recover and restore their farms. This stands as a testament to the power of #resilience and proactive measures taken in the communities of Goyena and Troilo. Through our collective efforts and unwavering determination, we are better prepared to assist our farmers and safeguard their resilience. To learn more about our work, please visit our website here: https://lnkd.in/gvCvhE9C To help support our mission to eliminate rural poverty in Central America, please visit our donations page: https://lnkd.in/ggHJfWqF Who We Are? ViviendasLeón Is a non-governmental (NGO) and non-profit organization, located in the cities of León, Nicaragua and Sololá, Guatemala, whose objective is to work with rural communities to eradicate poverty. We intend to create an impact on families by providing training, farming, water security and economic development, to improve the quality of life of each family.

In light of the increasing frequency of natural disasters, Walmart's recent initiative to deploy disaster response mobile units is commendable. These units, operated by skilled nonprofit professionals, have already significantly impacted Northwest Arkansas, offering essential services like hot meals, clean laundry, hot showers, and charging stations with Wi-Fi. Walmart's proactive approach, driven by a strong sense of corporate responsibility, provides immediate relief and strengthens community resilience, demonstrating the power of businesses in action. This is a prime example of how companies can make a meaningful difference and build stronger connections with the communities they serve. As businesses, if we promote initiatives that help communities thrive, we contribute to those communities' social and economic well-being, build a more substantial, loyal base, and create a positive impact that enhances our corporate reputation. #business #community #companies #RSE #social #responsibility
With natural disasters on the rise and a potentially historic hurricane season ahead, we’ve invested in new disaster response mobile units run by nonprofit pros. Recently rolled out in Northwest Arkansas after tornadoes struck, they have already provided thousands with hot meals, clean laundry, hot showers, and charging and Wi-Fi. Learn how these new investments are providing immediate relief during disasters – and helping communities thrive even in challenging times. https://lnkd.in/gV8fbaGp
