At the Department of Engineering Technology & Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University capstone presentations, I saw students making sales teams more efficient, customer experience improvements, specific supply chain processes more efficient, leadership communication processes work to change culture and to the tune of millions of dollars of savings or revenue depending on the problem. If you’re not recruiting here, channel the Julia Roberts Pretty Woman scene where she points out that while the salesperson is dependent on sales, she took a hard pass on what could have been her biggest sale. It definitely would have put her over her numbers on the day, week, month, year? What problem solutions are you taking a hard pass on solving? Why? What’s holding you back? Some days ago, I was invited by the NSChE UNIBEN Chapter to speak to them during their NSCHE week on the topic: "Is chemical Engineering degree worth the stress?" It was also an avenue for me to learn, as my mentor, Andrew Amenaghawon (PhD) was also a speaker at the event. He spoke about the field of chemical Engineering, and by the time he was done, everyone agreed that indeed the degree is worth the stress. As a matter of fact, anything good is worth the stress that accompanies its acquisition. During my session, I provided answers—as one who has walked the undergrad path—to these questions: 1. What can help a student studying Chemical Engineering? 2. What steps can one take to come out as the best graduating student? 3. Is it advisable for a student to have a skill? And then I gave general advice to all Chemical Engineering Students who were present. The session further showed the importance of guidance and pointers from those who are more experienced. In all your getting, get mentorship as you go through life. Once again, I thank the NSChE UNIBEN Chapter for the opportunity, and Andrew Amenaghawon (PhD) for being present to impact us. Jacob Wheaton is a problem-solver. It’s what makes him a Cyclone Engineer and what makes him passionate about his work as a graduate student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). “I like the fact there are a lot of different problems to solve in engineering,” Wheaton said. “There is always something to work towards, and it’s very satisfying when you find the solution. And I just really enjoy learning, and with materials engineering, it is easy to do a deep dive into a range of topics.” Read more at the link in the comments ⤵

Another academic year done and dusted🥳🫶🏽!! By far the most hectic year so far🤣, and I’m hearing it gets worse than this. But I thank God that I’ve been able to conquer once again ☺️. ✨Some highlights from this academic year; 1. I served as the Chemical Engineering School Officer: My first time ever serving in a leadership position of this capacity. I gave my all to this role, some days I was literally asking myself who sent me work🤣, but that’s what comes with leadership and I’m grateful for the journey. 2. I served (still serving) as the Director of Research of the upcoming WattMUN, which is my university’s Model UN conference. You’ll hear more about this soon☺️. This will also be my first time participating in an MUN conference. 3. I ran for my first ever election (Executive of Academics). I didn’t win but I do t regret running at all! I enjoyed the experience and learned a whole lott. A lot more but I’ll save the full gist for my newsletter, so you should subscribe😘.
