WesternGeco Requests License for Pará-Maranhão 3D Streamer The current acquisition polygon has an approximate area of 91,227 km², starts at a water depth of 200 meters, and covers deep-waters of the Pará-Maranhão basin, as well as portions of the Foz do Amazonas and Barreirinhas basins. According to the project's schedule, activities should commence in September 2025. The acquisition area is mostly unexplored, with only 3 wells drilled, some with hydrocarbon shows but noncommercial. Currently, the region has 7 exploration blocks: 2 fully owned by Enauta, 1 fully owned by Petrobras, and 4 operated by Petrobras, with partners bp and SINOPEC. Despite the lack of activity in the past decade, several blocks are under study in this region and could be included in future open acreage cycles. #WesternGeco #Enauta #well #drilling #Petrobras #Sinopec #bp #OpenAcreage #oilandgas #oil #anp #brazil #exploration #katalystdm #geopost

Potiguar's shallow waters hold very modest, commercially viable reserves of oil and gas. Still, Petrobras is set on making a noteworthy discovery in the basin's deepwater fields. The NOC will settle for drilling in Potiguar until CEO Jean Paul Prates can convince IBAMA President Rodrigo Agostinho that Petrobras can safely explore for hydrocarbon where it really wants: Block 59 of the Foz do Amazonas Basin. #Brazil #OilAndGas #Petrobras

Arrow Exploration Corp. (TSX-V:AXL, AIM:AXL, OTC:CSTPF) is counting down to the kick off at its drill programme for the Carrizales Norte (CN) 4 well in the Tapir block onshore Colombia. Today, it told investors it has now commenced set up of the Petroworks 1500-horsepower rig and drilling is expected to start in late January. It will be followed by the CN-5 well which is expected to spud in February. Arrow is also preparing for its first horizontal wells at the Carrizales Norte field as it progresses the construction of the new well pad, known as the B Pad, slated to be ready in March. Pad B will host the CN HZ-1 well and potentially more horizontal wells. Arrow has also started upgrading the Mateguafa pad, also within the Tapir block, along with construction for the Baquiano road and pad. Galp’s new discovery offshore Namibia has been successfully tested, with flows from the Mopane-1X well hitting the maximum limit of 14,000 barrels oil equivalent per day in a test. The Portuguese oil major, in a statement on Sunday, described Mopane as ‘potentially an important commercial discovery’. It reckons the discovered Mopane complex alone could contain hydrocarbon in-place in excess of 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent, and it sees possible additional exploration and appraisal wells in the project’s vicinity. “All acquired data from the current Mopane drilling campaign will be analysed and integrated into an updated reservoir model. The model will serve as the basis to refine Galp´s near-term drilling plan to further explore, appraise and develop the wider Mopane complex,” the company said in a statement. Galp owns 80% of the project where it drilled the Mopane-1X well and made the... More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors http://ow.ly/r1qC105qeLZ

Equatorial Guinea Exploration Alert! Chevron has signed two PSCs with Equatorial Guinea for deepwater exploration acreage. The blocks are EG-06 and EG-11, and the US Major will operate them in partnership with Gepetrol (NOC). The acreage, formerly operated by ExxonMobil, is near the Zafiro field. Chevron has an established position in Equatorial Guinea and already operates the Alen and Aseng fields. It has been a busy week for Chevron as on Wednesday, it signed two Risk Service Contracts for the ultra-deep water Block 49 and 50 in Angola in partnership with Sonangol. The acreage will be Chevron’s first operated acreage south of the Congo River and outside its core Cabinda and Block 14 areas. Following moves since October 2022 to acquire exploration acreage in Namibia’s Orange and Wavis Basins, Sub-Saharan deepwater is fast emerging as a key area of focus for Chevron.
