GJP | Town Planning & Development Consultancy’s Post

We are thrilled to announce that as of today GJP, in conjunction with Phil Williams, have received planning permission for an Energy Park on Rover Way, Cardiff! 🌱 This Energy Park will comprise a number of high-efficiency containerised battery storage units, along with a Data Centre. The battery park will provide storage for renewable energy (such as solar and wind) from the National Grid network. The Data Centre will in turn create a new state-of-the-art facility, which will seek to revitalise this area of Cardiff by introducing new high technology uses that will contribute to the economy of Cardiff, Wales and the whole of the UK. This energy park will boast an impressive 1,000MW of battery storage capacity, making it one of the largest battery storage facilities in the world! Each element of this scheme, particularly the increase in renewable energy supply, aligns with and promotes the Principles and Vision of the ‘One Planet Cardiff Agenda’, which targets Cardiff as a Neutral City by 2030. This will support the drive to achieve a carbon-neutral energy strategy for the UK which is dependent on the use of renewable and green energy - with wind and solar power being the most cost-effective forms of energy generation. We are proud to be contributing to this significant step toward a greener, more sustainable future for Cardiff, Wales, and the UK! Thank you to all who helped deliver this outcome for this very exciting and much needed scheme. Clients: Latos Data Centres Tremorfa Energy Park PCG Ltd. Ground conditions may be challenging on-site, particularly as it is a former landfill site. Get in touch with Tensar — we’d be happy to assist.
