Enerin AS is a world-leading manufacturer of High-Temperature Heat Pumps called HoegTemp. The HoegTemp is based on a reversed Stirling cycle, using helium as refrigerant. Heat pumps are an energy-efficient way to provide thermal energy for buildings and industrial processes.
Enerin’s industrial High-Temperature Heat Pump (HTHP) captures waste energy from cooling, heating, the outside air, as well as other available sources, and converts it into temperatures up to 200°C for drying, distillation or rapid heating processes. The heat pump is able to use ambient source temperatures as low as -30°C.
Enerin sets itself apart from its competitors, in its IP, innovation and engineering, by providing heat and steam that is as flexible and effective as a fossil fuel boiler. Enerin’s solutions can save up to two-thirds of your energy bill, making it competitive with gas, particularly when combined with renewable energy sources and thermal energy storage.
At high-temperature lifts, the HoegTemp is currently the most efficient heat pump on the market, while at lower temperatures the Coefficient of Performance (COP) is higher than competitor solutions. The COP is the measurement of energy efficiency – for every unit of energy consumed to run the heat pump on electricity, several units of energy can be achieved.
As long as power and a steam line are available the HoegTemp can be installed and housed in two standardised containers on site, with minimal yearly maintenance. The heat pump delivers high-pressure steam directly to an existing steam line, bypassing much of the detail engineering that is normally required.
The HoegTemp offers competitive pricing and low operating cost yields making it the best-in-class total life-cycle cost. Its operational robustness has been demonstrated at 140°C for 4,000 hours at the IVAR biogas plant near Stavanger in Norway. The demonstration is based on 30,000 additional prototype hours. The test data at 200°C has been published.

🚀 Stirling Process is the Nucleus of Enerin Heat Pumps
Robert Stirling’s revolutionary engine was first patented in 1816, and until 1922 it pumped water on farms and generated electricity. Fast forward to today, and this 209-year-old technology is at the core of one of the most efficient high-temperature heat pumps on the market!
Enerin uses the closed loop reverse Stirling system for its machines. Its unique design and advanced sealing technology makes it particularly well-suited for adaptation to reversible operation, enabling heat pumping, and for power generation in the forward mode.
Stirling’s legacy isn’t just history—it’s the future of flexible heat pumping and power generation.

🌊 Enerin’s HoegTemp: Unlocking circular economy potential with Hub for Ocean 🌊
At Enerin, we believe that collaboration is the key to unlocking the full potential of the circular economy where waste-to-value strategies go beyond ideas and lead to real-world impact.
Enerin COO Trond-Atle Asphjell was delighted to attend the cCHANGE and Hub for Ocean workshop on Thursday, 27 February, where 16 actors within the fisheries, aquaculture and hydrogen sectors were invited to network and strengthen social and business ties.
The Hub for Ocean co-ordinates the Symbiose Fjordane initiative that gathers actors in the fish sludge value chain, including fish farming, waste managers, slaughterhouses, biogas forums, and research and university partners who are instrumental in achieving the goals of zero-waste.
Whether it’s repurposing fishery by-products, optimising energy use, or reducing waste, the HoegTemp high-temperature heat pumps (HTHPs) offer highly #scalable solutions that support resilient and resource-efficient blue waste to green resource economies.
Our industrial HTHPs align perfectly with the mission to transform waste into valuable resources:
♻️ GE Healthcare
The 400 kilowatt (kW) HoegTemp was installed at the GE Healthcare Lindesnes Norway site in November 2024 for the #recovery and #reuse of solvents from the production of substances for contrast agents.

♻️ Pelagia
The current commissioning of our 400 kW heat pump will deliver 5 bar pressurised steam at Pelagia which reduces waste in its factories by using the entire fish for human and animal consumption.
♻️ IVAR Municipal Waste Water Treatment plant:
Since November 2023, the HoegTemp full-scale pilot HTHP has been running at IVAR Grødaland in the #biogas stream where it is replacing the use of fossil gas in the steam boiler using steam at 2 bar pressure.

➡️ Upcoming projects:
♻️ Enerin will deliver a HoegTemp due to be demonstrated in a bakery line, together with Circular Energy Systems. The heat source is the humid air from the production line and the delivery temperature is between 200°C to 250 C. This installation is part-funded by the @Eurostars project CircleDRY.
♻️ A HoegTemp will be delivered to Energy at KTH to demonstrate heating up to 250°C using heat sources from 10°C to 130°C in combination with thermal energy storage on SUSHEAT.
♻️ A HoegTemp will be demonstrated in combination with a thermal energy storage system from Kyoto Group AS with molten salt.

The European Clean Industrial Deal has just been released:
https://lnkd.in/dyJhSam3
"Affordable energy is the foundation of competitiveness. The Commission therefore adopted today an Action Plan on Affordable Energy to lower energy bills for industries, businesses and households. The Act will speed up the roll-out of clean energy, accelerate electrification, complete our internal energy market with physical interconnections, and use energy more efficiently and cut dependence on imported fossil fuels," the release says.
