Accelerating sustainable development incorporates empowering women farmers !! African women are not only the ones who are destined to carry out backbreaking house chores and are accountable to look after their children and the entire families. They are also the ones who bear the responsibility of taking care of the economy of their family. Women`s role in supporting the economy of their family goes beyond fetching water, cooking food, or undertaking any other household chores. They also directly engage in farming activities and contribute significantly to food production and the agricultural sector`s growth. However, despite this effort, they are not seen benefiting from the fruits of their hands. In most cases, women in agriculture, compared to their counterparts, are vulnerable to poverty and have limited access to resources and opportunities. To this end, empowering them through training and improving access to market and financial services are suggested by experts to help lift them out of poverty and create sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition in collaboration with the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) are excited to launch the fourth cohort of a mentorship program specifically targeting women in the clean cooking sector in Africa, Asia, and Haiti. As Nyalore Impact, we are excited to be part of this transforming experience to all Women in the clean cooking. Following the success of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 cohort, GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition are thrilled to continue supporting and uplifting women in the clean cooking sector. In 2025, the “Women in Clean Cooking” (WICC) mentorship program will support women in the clean cooking sector, offering benefits that include: 1. Gaining experience from seasoned professionals in the energy sector; 2. Obtaining career-enhancing activities to support concrete goals; 3. Under the Ugandan sun, young women are transforming agriculture with a simple yet powerful tool: the solar dryer. Witness a young #woman carefully arranging pumpkin chips and vegetables on a raised metal platform, sunlight glinting off its surface. This scene, unfolding across Uganda, exemplifies a quiet revolution in food security and climate action. These #solardryers, built and operated by young women, are reducing post-harvest loss, a critical issue in a country where 75% of the agricultural workforce are women. Preserving fruits, vegetables, and grains that would otherwise rot, they're increasing food availability and boosting incomes. But the impact extends beyond food security. Solar dryers contribute to SDG 7 by providing affordable and clean energy, replacing fossil fuel-based drying methods. They also align with SDG 13 by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, combating climate change. This initiative, part of the Rethink Climate Action Initiative (RCAI), empowers women with skills and knowledge, aligning with SDG 5 for gender equality. These young women are not just building dryers; they're building a sustainable future for their communities. The story of Uganda's solar dryers showcases the interconnectedness of the SDGs.
