Partnerships are an imperative if we are to achieve impact at scale.

United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and Conseil œcuménique des Églises are organising a key webinar today to raise awareness of the climate risks and violations of the rights of future generations resulting from the financing of fossil fuel industries. I am honoured to attend to present the L'Affaire BNP case, in which Seattle Avocats is assisting Notre Affaire à Tous, Les Amis de la Terre France and Oxfam France in calling on BNP Paribas to align its activities with the Paris Agreement and stop supporting the expansion of fossil fuels. Announcements have been made under pressure of such strategic litigation, but there are still many shortcomings and the bank's contribution to global warming through general financing to carbon majors and the absence of binding commitments to cease lending and issuing bonds to companies developing new projects in breach of the IPCC, #HLEG and International Energy Agency (IEA) recommendations (see the analysis from Reclaim Finance - ONG https://lnkd.in/e7H9vpNC) Launched in 2021, the initiative on Climate-Responsible Banking was spearheaded by UNEP Faith for Earth, UNEP Finance Initiative, the World Council of Churches, and the Muslim Council of Elders and the New York Board of Rabbis. It aims to integrate moral and ethical dimensions with financial practices to combat climate change and protect future generations. Registration in link below

➡️On this World Refugee Day, we pause to recognize the immense courage and resilience of millions of people who find themselves forcibly displaced, compelled to flee their homes, and embrace the identity of refugees. ➡️A striking statistic reveals that 50% of the world’s displaced population comprises women and girls (according to UNHCR). Among them, those who are unaccompanied, pregnant, heads of households, disabled, or elderly face heightened vulnerability. Often, these women serve as caregivers, bearing the brunt of increased risks of violence and exploitation. Globally, 1 in 5 refugee women has experienced sexual violence (UN Women). ➡️Despite these formidable challenges, women refugees emerge as agents of positive change, contributing significantly to the preservation of their culture and the shaping of their communities. Swayong believes World Refugee Day is not merely a day of mourning; it is an opportunity to advocate for their rights. By fostering empathy and understanding, we can collectively create a more welcoming, inclusive world—one where everyone has a safe place to call home. Grassroot actions play a very crucial role in achieving the SDGs, the actions have a great potential to contribute to the realization of SDGs. Therefore, the actions should not be ignored. The UNHCR Global Trends Report 2023 reveals a heartbreaking reality: 120 million people are forcibly displaced worldwide. Among them, children make up 40% of the displaced population, facing unimaginable hardships. In the Gaza Strip, 1.7 million people have been displaced within their own region, with many forced to flee multiple times. The conflict and food insecurity in Gaza are pushing people to the brink of famine. Every statistic in this report represents a human life filled with dreams and hopes.
