This year, a record 101 youth organizations participated in the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Ignite the Spirit program. Through this program, FFA, 4-H and other youth-based organizations receive $500 and 4 cases of pork loin to create their own service project to address hunger and food insecurity in their community. Organizations pick up the pork loins at Operation Christmas Meal stops throughout the month of December and then work with other hunger-fighting organizations in their area to prepare their project. Examples of projects include community meals and holiday meal boxes. Groups were spread across the whole state, with projects occurring in 47 counties.

This past Tuesday was Hunger Action Day! CEO Scott Rumpsa joined The Morning Mix on Fox 17 to share how neighbors like you can help nourish our neighbors and build a stronger, healthier communtiy. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Families who struggle to access the food they need often face other challenges, and a setback in one area creates a ripple effect across systems: education, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, food, finances, and transportation. Complex problems require holistic solutions - that’s why we combine healthy food access, resource navigation, financial empowerment, and street outreach to build a community where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive, and no one faces challenges alone. It takes a community, working together, to nourish our neighbors! Act with Action House by volunteering, hosting a drive, or donating to support our work! Every family should be able to access the programs that can help them thrive. But the reality is that some families face more barriers to getting the support they need. That’s why we’re so proud to partner with Generations United in their mission of supporting grandfamilies—families in which children are raised by relatives other than their parents, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, or siblings—who face increased risks of food insecurity. Learn how Generations United is working to change policies and ensure healthy food access for every family ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eRrCTv56

For the last 14 years, Denny's has raised funds toward ending childhood hunger through the generosity of our guests, which has helped us provide $13.6 million to the nonprofit No Kid Hungry since 2011. It’s an amazing community effort and a need that we don’t take lightly – donations help remove barriers that prevent kids from getting the meals they need to succeed. But one company, alone, cannot solve this critical issue across our country; it takes collective action to drive change. That’s why I am honored to share that I have joined No Kid Hungry’s CEO Pledge to End Summer Hunger. Alongside incredible leaders across industries like Darin Harris, Danny Meyer, Barry McGowan and Charles Watson, CFE, we are joining forces to help create a future where every child has access to three nutritious meals, 365 days a year. By joining this pledge, we commit to mobilize our brands by investing dollars, raising awareness, and using our platforms to help increase the number of children receiving summer meals from 2.8 million to 30 million nationwide. This pledge is a call to action to lead by example. I hope that you’ll consider joining me in this important cause to ensure a brighter future for tomorrow’s leaders. #NoKidHungry #Dennys
