My thanks to members of our Hubs in the South who joined us this afternoon for a CEO & President catch-up call. It was a great opportunity to update members on some of the positive things happening recently – our 190th anniversary, the first birthday of our client resources – and to hear from members about the opportunities and challenges they’re seeing. It was a wide ranging discussion, touching on most areas of CIOB’s work. We talked about, among other things, engaging with students and helping to address the skills gap, using the CIOB Connect app to update members, gaining and recording CPD points and accessing some of the CPD resources available via the CIOB Academy. In terms of a specific challenge the industry is facing in the region, members expressed concerns about the lack of provision for built environment students. This chimes with much of what our Policy team heard last year in regional roundtable events and remains on our agenda as the current state of affairs is not sustainable and will hold back efforts to attract people into construction.
