Kudos to Dr. Tom Karako and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for hosting another most interesting security forum. This week, the spotlight was on #RADM Fred Pyle, N96 on the #CNO's staff at the #Pentagon. The wide-ranging, overarching theme: recent operations in the #RedSea and #MediterraneanSea, building the #futurefleet, and pursuing #globalovermatch capabilities. The discussion may be viewed at https://lnkd.in/espsSkTK Great insights and updates were provided by the US Navy two-star leader. Of relevance to MS&T: In response Dr. Karako's question, how have the ships [in the Red Sea] been performing?" RADM Pyle responded, "We could not be more pleased with how they are performing. It is evidence of...investments in training, #virtual, #live and #constructive of how we train..." MS&T followers have watched US Navy make significant investments in #surfacewarfaretraining since the service's two horrific collisions at sea in 2017. Most recently we noted this development https://lnkd.in/e6EXF_53. We'll continue following and commenting on the sea service's efforts to strengthen its training programs across the LVC domains Marty Kauchak, editor US Fleet Forces Command Allied Maritime Command Naples US Naval Education & Training Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD)

The United States Department of Defense’s Irregular Warfare Center (IWC) and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD(I&S) are partnering for the inaugural Intelligence Support to Irregular Warfare Symposium this fall. The event, to be held October 29-31, 2024, at the U.S. Naval Institute’s Jack C. Taylor Conference Center, Annapolis, Maryland, is the first in a series of symposiums that will look at our existing gray zone capabilities within the Intelligence Community with a focused examination of our adversaries from a global perspective. The goal of this event is to generate a common understanding of intelligence support to irregular warfare and how our adversaries leverage irregular activities across the operating environment. Only through understanding how our adversary operates and what the U.S. Government and its Allies bring to the conversation, can we identify opportunities to act, as well as detect, develop, deter, and disrupt adversarial irregular activities. Check out the Save the Date for additional event information! #IWC #IrregularWarfareCenter #Irregularwarfare #IWCFAN #Intel #IWSymposium #IWGlobalNetwork

15 January 2024 update: US Naval Forces, Central Command, has advised that the security situation in the area between 16N and 12N remains unstable. It is currently not possible to foresee how the security situation develops, but the present security conditions may prevail for still some time. Coalition forces and BIMCO continue to recommend shipping companies to consider avoiding shipping operations in the area and reposition to north of 18N or east of 46E. - Sign up now for BIMCO newsletters and receive updates and event notifications directly to your inbox https://lnkd.in/eVD9bh45 #BIMCO #RedSea #maritimesecurity #maritimesafety #globaltrade #shippingindustry

USS Delaware Pioneers UUV Deployment The Virginia-class Block III fast-attack submarine, USS Delaware (SSN-791), continues to set new benchmarks in naval warfare technology. Commissioned in April 2022 under unique circumstances, #SSN-791 was the first U.S. Naval warship to be commissioned while submerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, #USS Delaware will deploy a torpedo-tube launch-and-recovery (TTL&R) uncrewed underwater vehicle (#UUV) in the European theater, marking the first operational use of this capability. This milestone will see the REMUS 600, known as the "Yellow Moray," enhance mission capabilities, including the defense of critical undersea infrastructure. The REMUS 600, capable of semi-autonomous operation and deep-sea missions, signifies a leap in seabed warfare. With the ability to defend and potentially counter threats to #undersea cables and pipelines, this technology is set to redefine the #strategic landscape of underwater operations. Kudos to the innovative minds and skilled hands driving this mission forward. The silent service is making waves—literally and figuratively! #NavyInnovation #UnderwaterWarfare #USSDelaware #DefenseTech #SeabedWarfare #UUV #MilitaryInnovation https://lnkd.in/d9BuxChD

CAMRE continues to break down barriers of what is possible in expeditionary #advancedmanufacturing. Processes traditionally constrained to factories such as heat treatment are being pushed to the edge with the help of individuals like the Naval Postgraduate School’s doctoral candidate LCDR Zachary Vrtis, PE, under the supervision of Dr. Emre Gunduz. These actions are vital for the Defense Industrial Base and successfully completing battle damage repair at sea. Well done by the entire team in support of SALVEX with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)! #additivemanufacturing #irttw https://lnkd.in/ggBB8kbE

Defence iQ has announced the launch of their brand new conference, Surface, Air and Seabed Warfare (SASW) which will be taking place at the home of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth, on the 18 – 19 June 2024, where we will explore innovative solutions to transit capability gaps in naval operations. The conference will centre around the augmentation of warships through cutting-edge technology, positioning them as pivotal assets in the ever-evolving multi-domain battlespace. With the rise of potential higher-intensity conflicts and modern challenges such as autonomous systems, hypersonic capabilities, and the protection of critical undersea infrastructure, it is crucial to address these issues proactively.
