The initiative "Looking at tomorrow" was implemented in 50 schools in the areas of Evros and the Region of Thessaly, which in September 2023 were affected by natural disasters. Through experiential empowerment activities, the initiative contributed to the support of students by strengthening their self-confidence and hope for the future. Topics related to disaster management were discussed, such as ways to  manage stress, volunteering, the importance of prevention to avoid similar situations and the importance of supporting and empowering the community. Students who shared their experience stated that the initiative helped them relieve stress and/or discover ways to cope with it, while at the same time mentioned that the discussions with mentors and the interaction they had with them contributed significantly to their feeling of safety and support. The initiative was implemented in strategic cooperation with Piraeus within the framework of its multifaceted Corporate Social Responsibility programme “EQUALL - For a Society of Equal People” under the “New Generation” pillar. #TheTippingPoint #Piraeus #Equall #mentoring #supportingstudents #PiraeusBank #NewGeneration

It speaks to me on so many different levels: making social impact, giving back, bloom where you are planted, give what you can- no matter how small...I just love it! Take a look if you can. It's worth it. For those in a hurry, here are a few quotes that warmed my soul: 1) "It is possible to do great things from a small place." Gives me Monday morning goosebumps! 2) "You can do whatever you put your mind to." Mind and action with loads of reps. Reps, reps, and more reps! That's the tricky magic sauce! 3) "People with less have actually done more!" Hallelujah sister! A teeny Monday morning twinge of that-excuse-is-no-bueno. 4) "We can and we should!" I am excited to announce that the Perth-wide service project working with Uniting WA providing essentials to those experiencing homelessness has been published in national news website Horizons, on YouTube, and on Baha'i Blog! ⭐ https://lnkd.in/gQ-FJ5k6 ⭐ https://lnkd.in/gArqBPQR ⭐ https://lnkd.in/gX7zgM7E Sonia Raisi and I teamed up to initially organize a collaboration service project between the ECU and UWA Baha'i Societies, but as we learned more about Uniting WA's need for large-scale donations, we decided to take on the challenge of transforming it into a Perth-wide event. We had never organized an initiative of this scale before, so we wanted to share some of our learning! 1. Take time to learn from the professionals. It is imperative with any project to maintain honesty in what can be accomplished with your capabilities alone, and when to seek wisdom from other professionals. Recognizing that we had little education on what it is like to be experiencing homelessness in Perth, we decided to reach out to Rhys Powell from Uniting WA, since Uniting WA is the leading nonprofit in Western Australia for tackling this challenge. Our Zoom meeting with him allowed us to refine our vision and task breakdown to maximize the effect we could have on our local community. 2. Diversify advertising, but invest the most time on one-on-one invitations because they are harder to miss and more enticing to accept. We let others know about the event through the ECU and UWA Baha'i Society Instagrams, youth group chats, junior youth group leaders, emails sent by local institutions, and one-on-one messages between friends and acquaintances. By far, the most effective form of communication that influenced others to participate was the final one. 3. Be clear in communicating the level of inclusivity of the event. We strongly encouraged all the junior youth groups in Perth to participate in the project by collecting from their local neighbourhoods. However, many of the older generations misunderstood this encouragement to mean that the event was only for youth and junior youth. Thus, they thought that they could not participate, even though this was an all-inclusive event. Some more details: ✨ We had 150-200 donors total ✨ By the end of the event, we had received so many donations that the stage was overflowing! ✨ About 70 people attended the event ✨ The program consisted of a presentation from Rhys, refreshments, and a social portion If you want to get involved in our next service project, feel free to send me a message! The UWA and ECU Baha'i Societies are committed to organizing events that are focused on including as many individuals as possible with the goal of eliminating apathy towards social issues and nurturing a sense of united protagonism throughout Perth.

Do you believe in the power of #volunteerism? After spending many months volunteering for different organisations, I can proudly say that volunteering taught me a lot of lessons. Volunteerism has been increasingly recognised as a valuable approach to involve young people in promoting global peace and #sustainabledevelopment. It serves as a catalyst for positive change in society, making it an essential tool for young individuals. Volunteerism has the potential to #empower young people to serve their communities and enhance their participation in civic activities. Organisations should provide more opportunities for volunteering and youth should be more intentional in leveraging these opportunities as the benefits are numerous. #Knowledgesharing, they say is power!! In this article, I highlighted some of the roles organisations can play in actively fostering volunteerism and some of the challeges mentioned by some youth on why they are not very interested in volunteering. Focus on Salesians of Don Bosco Malta's project, a European Solidarity Corps project selected as good practice 👌   The projects aims to create safe and sustainable spaces through a number of activities, which include: ✅ Developing three premises to be used for the service of young people especially those with fewer opportunities ✅ Supporting the implementation of 2 nonformal educational programmes every year reaching at least 100 youngsters ✅ Setting up monthly posts and a yearly publication promoting sustainability    This project also aims to develop Youth Ministry activities with young people towards Active Citizenship, through the following activities: ✅ Yearly recruitment of 2 volunteers who will assist in a care home with 6 young people with fewer opportunities ✅ Identification of 2 services every year for volunteers to support in activities ✅ Create and implement 2 nonformal programmes every year related to active citizenship ✅ By the third year, the Foundation will form part of a network of European Organisations that share a common vision and implement projects together   #volunteering #EUPA SEM - Servizzi Ewropej f'Malta | Public Service of Malta
