Celebrating Women in the Mining Sector. Meet Millen Noni, a geologist with a vision to transform the gemstone mining industry. As a staunch advocate for women in mining, Millen recognizes the economic challenges they face and is dedicated to empowering them. From securing financing to ensuring safety in remote mining areas, she's committed to leveling the playing field. But Millen's impact goes beyond empowerment. She strongly advocates for differentiated regulations that acknowledge the unique nature of gemstone mining and for the use of drones in gemstone mapping to revolutionize the mining industry. Millen's major points of advocacy are: 1️⃣ Fair treatment of gemstone mining in the law. 2️⃣ The adoption of drones for accurate gemstone mapping. 3️⃣ Women's empowerment in every aspect of the mining sector.

CESMECC's Commitment to Elevating Women in Mining At Centre for Sustainable Mining, Environment and Climate Change (CESMECC), we believe in the power of diversity and the essential role women play in the mining sector. As we celebrate International Women in Mining Day, CESMECC realized that only a handful women were featured in various social media platforms yet there are many women in mining who are making remarkable contributions in the industry. We acknowledge that their stories are often underrepresented, and many women working in mining remain unseen and unheard. This has got us thinking deeply. CESMECC is committing to finding ways to elevate women in the mining field, ensuring their voices are heard, their achievements recognized, and their potential realized. CESMECC is committed to championing the interests of women in mining, and we have outlined a robust plan to bring their stories to light, encourage their participation in industry conversations, and inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in mining. CESMECC invites you to join us in this important mission. Follow our social media channels to stay updated on our initiatives, participate in our events, and help us spread the word. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable mining sector where women thrive and lead. Let's champion the interests of women in mining and pave the way for future generations. The State of Women in Mining: Your Thoughts for 2024? Is the narrative still the same? Are women still leaving the mining industry? We want to hear your insights! This was one of our favourite discussions at Femina Collective in 2023 when we stumbled upon a 2021 McKinsey & Company article that delved into the concerns surrounding women entering and leaving the mining industry. The article examined female representation across crucial dimensions: initial recruitment, medium-term retention, and the promotion of women throughout the organization. ➡ Attracting women to mining ➡ Retaining women in mining ➡ Promoting women in mining into more senior roles The call for action is clear—mining companies need to address all three dimensions to make significant progress. Values of equality and equity showcase the positive impact of diversity on financial and operating performance. Improving women's representation in the mining sector isn't a quick-fix situation. However, by addressing these dimensions, mining companies can pave the way for meaningful progress. Have you been able to read the full article? We'd love to dive into your thoughts! Could you share your takeaways and reflections? Are these insights valid, or have we seen growth and positive changes in the past few years? Let's discuss the state of women in mining as we look ahead to 2024.

🌟 Celebrating Strong Women in Mining 🌟 In the mining industry, the contributions of strong women are essential and transformative. Their leadership, expertise, and dedication are shaping the future of sustainable mining. Effective environmental management in mining requires a deep understanding of all technical processes that could potentially impact the environment if not properly managed. This is where the role of an environmentalist becomes crucial. An environmentalist's involvement from the beginning ensures that every step of the mining process is meticulously planned and executed with the environment in mind. Their insights help in developing solutions that mitigate negative impacts and promote sustainability. By embracing the expertise of environmentalists, we can create a balance between mining operations and environmental preservation. Empowering women in Africa’s mining industry! Discover the thoughts of Carla Clamp of BDO South Africa as she examines the challenges holding women back in the continent’s mining industry and why it is imperative to identify and remove such barriers. “There is a whole lot of untapped potential in women that could be miners that is currently not being assessed or utilised. Given the opportunity, these women could make a huge difference in the industry and can join the ranks of the several women change-makers that have been in the industry.” A the upcoming Investing in African Mining Indaba conference Clamp advised attendees and participants to keep this vital topic in mind throughout each discussion in this year’s agenda: “It is imperative that we maintain the focus of removing the barriers that keep women from shining and reaching their highest potential in an industry that has been historically male-dominated.” Discover the full interview at: https://lnkd.in/eERHV9Hu #MiningIndaba #WomenInMining #WomenEmpowerment #AfricaMining #WomenInBusiness

**WOMEN IN ENGINEERING** Many women feel impostor syndrome at work. When applying for jobs, many women state that they don't feel like they can do it. Men don't often have that confidence crisis. It is so amazing to see/hear stories of women supporting women, especially in a male dominated industry. Our mining team is a great example of women in leadership, women in technical roles, women leading an industry. These women are the role models to the young women out there who are thinking about getting into sciences, technology, and engineering. They are the examples showing young women they can do it too! #bbaconsultants #engineering #womeninengineering
when I started my career I don't know if I would have believed that when I grew up I would be working surrounded by so many talented engineers, and that so many of them would be women I know that there are still young women in mining who might be thinking the same thing, and if that's you, please reach out - I promise you there are places for women in mining, and I would happily help you find yours thank you to these women below (as well as many others not pictured) and BBA Consultants for helping me find mine Catherine Pelletier, Melissa Jarry, Helin Girgin, Amanda Fitch, P.Eng., P.E, Vera Gella and Isabelle Leblanc #iwed #wim #womeninengineering #womeninstem #womeninmining #stem #engineering #mining
