Last week, the students of #OffsiteTechnologiesforArchitecture had the opportunity to meet Nicola Scaranaro, partner in Foster + Partners, one of the world’s most innovative integrated architecture and design firms. Together with Nicola, their #workshoptutor, the students will work on the redevelopment of the urban periphery in Via Tucidide, in Milan, one of the most imposing urban and architectural challenges in the city. Meet Alanah Hayes, a #UDGC finalist from Technological University Dublin. Alanah’s project explores the emotional impact of architecture and its potential to care for and connect with those who interact with it. Using space, material, and light, her work examines how buildings can evoke emotions such as hope, calm, and belonging. She asks, "What is the role of an architect in care?" and "Can architecture be used as a tool for care?" Alanah’s project is a beautiful investigation into the intersection of empathy and design, inspiring us to think about architecture in new ways.
