Last week, we were thrilled to join community leaders, city and county officials, and our partners to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Williamsburg Sports and Events Center! MBP is providing construction management services for this exciting project, which will bring a 200,000-square-foot indoor sports complex to Williamsburg, VA. The facility will feature 12 basketball courts convertible into 24 volleyball courts and 36 pickleball courts, along with a climbing wall, ninja gym equipment, indoor conversion turf system, and more. Here's (l to r) MBP's Jim Yatzeck, Meredith Shirley, and Todd M. Walker at the event. 📸 Special thanks to the Historic Triangle Recreational Facilities Authority – a collaborative effort by the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County – for making this vision a reality. The facility is set to open in 2026, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the region! #MBP #MBPCE #BetterProjectOutcomes #ConstructionManagement #SportsCenter #HistoricTriangle #WilliamsburgVA #Groundbreaking

It’s been 15 years since Kingsbridge Community Sports began its journey, exploring possibilities of community-led sports facilities development, in South Birmingham. A lot has changed in this time, but the question remains, what will Birmingham City Council decide to do with Holders Lane Sports Fields? The old derelict changing block (featured in this video) has now been demolished, but little else has been done at Holders Lane in recent years. Local grassroots sports clubs still need recreational facilities for their teams. The sports fields themselves are protected through Fields in Trust, but significant investment is still needed to mitigate against the regular flooding. So what’s next? Will Birmingham City Council’s current financial crisis reopen conversations about a collaborative partnership with local community groups, or will the open spaces once entrusted to the Council for the benefit of local communities; be eventually sold for development? 🚨 The WSL is being shaken up in BS3! 🚨 In the heart of Bristol, amidst the historic streets and vibrant culture, a revolution is underway. Bristol City Football Club Women's team is challenging norms and reshaping the definition of success in the #WSL. Despite facing on-field hurdles upon their WSL return, Bristol is surpassing expectations, outpacing renowned teams in average audience attendance. While larger clubs like Arsenal are grabbing headlines with their record-breaking attendances, Bristol City is quietly carving out its spot and challenging as one of the most beloved teams in the WSL. 🔥 Their record-breaking turnout for the Manchester United fixture last November, with an incredible 14,138 supporters at Ashton Gate Stadium, showcases this success. 🔥 No matter the game's outcome, the opponent they face, or where they stand on the ladder, the club's fans never falter in their unwavering dedication to always be there. 📈 Recent attendance reports place Bristol City at 4th in the league, with an average of over 8,000 spectators per game this season, surpassing larger WSL-established clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, and Spurs. 📈 This success is rooted in several factors, with community and unity being paramount. BCWFC fosters a bond among fans and players, reflecting the city's diverse fabric on the field. In a landscape where victories often dictate triumph, BCWFC is writing a new narrative that serves as a reminder that genuine victory can surpass mere goals and trophies. Instead, it also resides in the resolute spirit of the community they ignite, inspiring dreams and propelling the game forward for generations to come. How does parks and recreation impact your community? The #1 purpose of parks and recreation departments is to provide high quality facilities and services to their local community. This can happen in a variety of ways, but let’s take it one step further. While municipalities invest millions each year into their parks and recreation departments across the country, it is more important now that ever before that we show return on investment. Investing into your parks is an investment into your whole community. Here is a quick snapshot of our crown jewel baseball/softball facility, Freedom Park. Freedom Park bosts 12 baseball/softball fields as well as 1 state of the art Mircle League synthetic surface field. This facility is utilized for our local youth and adult baseball and softball leagues throughout the week, and doubles as a tournament facility on the weekends.Since partnering with Placer.ai we have gained much insight on our parks visitation rate, number of park visitors, where they come from, and how long they stay. Not only are we providing high quality programs and facilities to our locals (the most important), we are generating tourism dollars throughout our entire community! It is our responsibility as parks and recreation professionals to tell our story, and educate the public on ALL the benefits of investing into parks and recreation.Excitied to see our impacts in 2024! #parksandrecreation #tellyourstory #sportstourism #sportseta #youthsports #georgiatourism #GRPA #competevaldostalowndes #TitleTown

We were asked the question yesterday regarding the wider benefits of our proposals for the Home of Football a new purpose built stadium and sports complex for Sheffield FC and Sheffield Eagles. Simply put… The social benefits of the new sports complex include fostering community cohesion through shared experiences at events held in the 5000-seater stadium. The purpose-built sports hall for wheelchair rugby promotes inclusivity, offering adaptive facilities for athletes with disabilities, contributing to a more diverse and accessible sports environment. Moreover, the football and cricket academies will serve as hubs for talent development, providing aspiring athletes with training and educational opportunities. This not only elevates the level of local sports but also contributes to the broader societal emphasis on health and fitness. Economically, the sports complex becomes a catalyst for job creation, from event staffing to coaching positions within the academies. Increased sports tourism, driven by events at the stadium and academy programs, can stimulate local businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and shops. The influx of visitors and heightened community engagement can lead to improved infrastructure and a positive cycle of economic growth within the region. #sportsarchitecture #stadia #hcd #thoughtsofanarchitect #sheffieldfc #sheffieldeagles

Bid Coach 🦊 15+ years of helping SMEs win bids & tenders 🥇 Learn Bid Skills to win more contracts | Bid Support | Bid Training | Bid Writing | Bid Review | Bid Development I Tender Troubleshooting
SOCIAL VALUE SYNCHRONICITY 🔁 Nearly all tenders now include questions around social value, which aim to understand how the bidding organisation adds value to the communities in which they operate. Buyers want to work with a supplier who shares their values and which is committed to creating positive local impacts, as well as being able to deliver their project successfully. Social value can include economic, environmental and social factors and often includes a broader recognition of the impact/s that the procurement itself may have in society. SMS Group | Ship Repair | Marine Interiors | Marine Engineering | SC SQEP is evidencing their commitment to social value through a variety of projects, and I'm delighted to be supporting their initiative to engage with, and upskill, their local supply chain. My Bid Skills Workshops will help specialist suppliers and contractors bid for work with SMS Group, and support their delivery of a significant pipeline of works at Devonport Dockyard, for Babcock. My workshops will include content on how bidders can demonstrate social value in their bids for SMS Group, creating some lovely synchronicity around this project. ➡️ Please DM me to register your interest in attending the SMS Bid Skills workshops. #bidwriting #bidskills #socialvalue #plymouth #devon #tenders
As part of our WMPP framework within HMNB Devonport led by Dave Chaffers, Ben Rowe, Paul Downer and Marc (Jooles) Andrew we’re pleased to support numerous #SocialValue initiatives. To include (but not limited to) grassroots rugby, a bid writing workshop - to be hosted by Naomi Fox-Smith, and mock interviews at Ivybridge Community College. #community #engagement #SMS.

Were Bristol City Women's FC in the Relegation Battle before even kicking the ball? Bristol City's journey in the Women's Super League echoes the financial hurdles many women's teams face. Being one of just two teams left in the WSL without the backing of a Premier League side – Leicester City are the other and they are an incomparable operation – they have had to be creative in their approach. With a tight budget, Bristol City's team "off-the-pitch" is half the size of the average WSL team, and a third of the size of the bigger clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea women. An abundance of injuries this season also meant the team utilised more academy players, fielding the youngest average line up in the division (24 years, 136 days). The obvious solution here would've been to add three players to their squad in the January transfer window, but could they even afford to? Women's teams with more money generated by their men's teams are excelling against those without. For me, this poses the obvious question - is this in the spirit of competition? But it's a tough question. Limited backing from Premier League and Championship sides in the men's fame would surely reduce the growth rate of the game and therefore enforcing regulations on this would have a negative effect. How do you suggest teams like Bristol City women tackle this problem? #wsl #womenssuperleague #womenschampionship #womensfootball #womenssoccer #bristolcitywomen #bristolcityfc
