Today, on International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, I am proud to share a video discussing the crucial role of mangroves in our fight against climate change and in promoting sustainable development. Recent studies, including one from IUCN*, warn that more than half of all mangrove ecosystems are at risk of collapse by 2050. This is alarming, considering mangroves can sequester four times as much carbon as rainforests and are vital for the resilience of coastal communities. At COP28 UAE, we initiated the Mangrove Alliance for Climate, mobilizing governments and non-state actors around a common goal: to halt mangrove losses, double their protection, and restore degraded mangroves by 2030. We are making rapid progress, and with continued global cooperation, we can ensure the survival of these critical ecosystems. AMAZON , Don’t destroy AMAZON Our forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. This alarming trend not only destroys the natural habitats of countless species but also contributes to climate change, soil erosion, and the disruption of vital water cycles. It's time we take action to protect and restore our precious forests and oceans and finally Earth before it's too late. NATO or other Organizations are also responsible for protecting our forests and oceans and all humanity with peace . They should respect to all thoughts without considering racism and finally developing to keep our planet Earth . We have no other place to live as alternative except Earth . Let’s young leaders control future of our planet. NATO and Organization are responsible to bring peace not to manufacturing war guns and tools . We are all in one ship . Please don’t make hole our ship . If we want to survive in our only planet in the universe, we must be together otherwise we have no chance to survive. We have no time at all .

As leaders converge in Dubai for #COP28 to strategize on building resilience and reducing emissions to tackle the climate crisis, our ocean’s colossal potential to mitigate climate change has remained relatively untapped. 🌊 With suitable investments, the ocean can deliver a third of the world’s energy needs in a climate-compatible manner. 📢 This just in: A huge boost for climate action at COP28 UAE as 38 new countries join the Freshwater Challenge - the world’s largest freshwater restoration and protection initiative. The Nature Conservancy is proud to join our partners at WWF, UNEP (through the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration), IUCN, Conservation International, Wetlands International and the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands as we work to turn these commitments into action. Nicole Silk, TNC’s Global Director of Freshwater Outcomes at The Nature Conservancy, said: “Healthy freshwater systems are at the heart of demonstrated, cost-effective, equitable and readily available solutions to the triple planetary crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. As the planet’s largest carbon sink, the ocean is a fundamental part of the global response to climate change. Around the world, marine protected areas (MPAs) are being created to protect and conserve marine habitats that support biodiversity, community well-being and economic prosperity. Marine protected area networks (MPANs) — MPAs that operate collectively across a regional — offer opportunities for large-scale habitat protection, while supporting climate-resilient communities. These networks showcase the power of collective effort and investment in protecting our global ocean. It’s important to stress that companies must first make urgent investments in reducing the carbon emissions of their own business and operations and then use carbon credits to offset carbon pollution that remains. When companies use carbon credits to clean up emissions that they otherwise don’t have a solution for, it can create big wins for the climate, for conservation, and for local communities. 🚨 [NEW REPORT] Coastal and marine ecosystems as Nature-based Solutions in new or updated Nationally Determined Contributions: has ambition increased? Today start the pre-COP discussions in Abu Dhabi, just 30 days before COP28 UAE opens in Dubai. This year, the Conference will see the completion of the first #GlobalStocktake, which assesses the collective progress made towards the achievement of the goals of the #ParisAgreement. Its conclusions will help determine the pace and level of climate action that need to be reached to keep the 1.5°C target alive. To support this effort, the Ocean & Climate Platform and key partners have been tracking the inclusion of coastal and marine Nature-based Solutions in national climate strategies. Since our last report in October 2021, 30 additional NDCs were submitted, bringing the total number up to 148. Our analysis suggests an increasing recognition of the ocean’s role in #climateaction:  🌊 97 out of 148 NDCs include marine and coastal Nature-based Solutions (#NbS) in their new or updated NDC  👉 Among these, 61 included them for both #mitigation and #adaptation purposes 📈 In comparison, 68 of them mentioned such NbS in the previous round Discover other key findings here 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eXccPxeP This report was realised in collaboration with IUCN, Rare, The Nature Conservancy, Wetlands International and WWF #OceanforClimate

Despite high expectations for significant progress at the #cop28 climate summit, influential oil countries softened the commitment from 'phasing out' to 'reducing' fossil fuels, diminishing the urgency to act. Amidst this, small island nations are protesting, viewing the latest agreements as dangerously inadequate. Discussions at the Extreme Hangout revealed widespread frustration and calls for stronger, science-based action. The expected outcome is a vague agreement trying to please all sides, but there's hope it might still encourage a shift towards a healthier, more sustainable world.
