Seeing stats like this can be disheartening, until you realize that it is absolutely possible to change this reality when everyone does their part. These are our kids, America's kids, and we can all take a step TODAY to flip the script for their future. Because it's our future, too. Help more kids find families through corporate sponsorships: https://lnkd.in/en7KrGj2 #superbowl #fostercareawareness
Did you know? The Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas holds 65,000 people. Multiply this by six and you get 390,000, which falls short of accommodating the 400,000 kids in foster care today. Nationwide, there are only half the amount of homes needed to house them. One of the reasons for the shortage is that 50% of new foster parents quit within the first year, with many stating lack of community support as a reason. That's where our Foster Friendly program comes in. We help increase foster parent retention by equipping businesses, churches and entire communities to support and encourage local foster families. As a business leader, you can make a huge difference in the lives of foster families and the children they serve through: A) Corporate sponsorships Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gpG2DDsC B) Offering discounts to foster families on our free Foster Friendly App Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gasfpedz Join the movement and let's make sure these local heroes receive the community support they deserve! #fosterfriendly #nfl #superbowl Statistics source: Lifesong for Orphans

There are solutions for children in care if we want to find them and make the phone calls. Kevin Campbell and Elizabeth Wendel, Co-Founders Pale Blue can show you how. Please join us in this important conversation on episode #153 of the Thriving Minds podcast. https://lnkd.in/e-kkF2Qc Learn about the "Family Finding" methodology in child safety and welfare for 2 decades. It prioritises reconnecting children in the care of systems with their extended family members and other significant connections. The main goal is to establish a lifelong network of support, ensuring the child's well-being, safety, and permanency. Here's why "Family Finding" is vital in child safety:

100’s of millions invested by the State of California over the next 4 years to flip the script on Foster care. Instead of foster and residential care, California will support families to stay together and make the first placement of children with kin if they can't stay home. 20 years after the first Family Finding replication test in Sacramento, a humbling day. Thank you, Lyn Farr, Michael Nash, and Judge Len Edwards for your vision to bring FF to California.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, an opportunity to advocate for the needs of children in care and empower them to reach their full potential. It's about ensuring they have access to essential services, educational opportunities, and the support they need to thrive. By investing in their well-being and development, we invest in the future of our communities. There are many ways to get involved and make a difference during Foster Care Awareness Month and beyond: •Support Foster Families: Offer assistance, encouragement, and resources to foster families in your community. •Advocate for Policy Changes: Advocate for policies that improve the foster care system and support children and families in need. •Volunteer: Volunteer your time with organizations that support children and youth in foster care, such as mentoring programs or advocacy groups. Let's honor the dedication of foster families and professionals who work tirelessly to make a positive difference in their lives. Together, we can build a brighter future for every child, ensuring they grow up in safe, loving, and supportive environments. #FosterCareAwarenessMonth #CelebrateFosterFamilies #EmpowerTheFuture

FACT: 30% of your new families could potentially come through referrals from your current resource/foster families and your agency employees. What are you doing to remind, encourage, and facilitate a process for your families to refer their relatives and friends to your agency? Our founder, Mike Logan's 5 recommended actions for improving referrals: 1. Incentivize them. 2. Make it known that you want your clients to refer their families and friends. 3. Create a campaign to communicate your desire for referrals and update it regularly. 4. Create and distribute materials for your families to take to their relatives and friends describing foster care. 5. Host an event and encourage your families to bring family and friends to hear about foster care. #FosterCareRecruitment #FosterFamilyRecruitment #FosterCare

"They don't need anything financial, just TIME!" -- Love Box® group member, talking about the needs of the family they are serving. 📦 The Love Box® program is about developing relationships with local families that foster. Each day, in our our area, foster homes close their doors and the number one reason they give is that it can be difficult to find the exact type of support they need; especially when the ups and downs, and unpredictability get to be too much to handle. When foster homes close, kids have to move. This is part of the reason that kids in foster care move an average of seven times every two years. This is also why our Love Box® program exists...to provide much needed, family-specific, support. 💙 Your support could mean the difference between a family feeling capable to open their heart and home to a child or closing their doors. 💙 There are currently 46 families on our waitlist who can use a little consistent support and encouragement. ➡ Go to https://lnkd.in/gafXtTra or click the link in our bio to learn more about the Love Box® program and how you can change their world...one child at a time! #lovebox #foster #community #volunteer #giveback #loveoutsidethebox #changethestats #clevelandangels #nationalangels
