3rd Europe CCUS & Hydrogen Decarbonisation Summit – Meet the Partner! We are proud to introduce TotalEnergies as one of the key participants at the 3rd Europe CCUS & Hydrogen Decarbonisation Summit! TotalEnergies is a global multi-energy company focused on providing affordable, reliable, and clean energy solutions while aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. Recently, TotalEnergies signed, through its joint-venture Northern Light project in Norway, the world’s first commercial agreement on cross-border CO2 transport and storage with Yara. This project will capture and store 800,000 tons of CO2 annually from early 2025, marking a major milestone in decarbonizing European industry. In another groundbreaking initiative, TotalEnergies and Air Products agreed in June 2024 on a 15-year partnership to supply 70,000 tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030. This agreement will advance the decarbonization of TotalEnergies’ European refineries and avoid approximately 700,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year. This deal with Air Products is the first signed following the call for tenders launched last year to supply 500,000 tons per year of green hydrogen, potentially reducing CO2 emissions by around five million tons annually by 2030. This first agreement is a stepping stone towards the goal of decarbonizing the hydrogen used in TotalEnergies’ refineries in Northern Europe by the end of the decade. It's a future that our Hydrogen and Future Fuels division was excited to talk about at the recent Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Sydney. This prestigious event unites top hydrogen industry experts, and provides a valuable forum for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and alignment. Alongside industry leaders, our team showcased our commitment and innovative strides in renewable hydrogen production. Chris Shaw (Deputy Director-General, Hydrogen and Future Fuels) led discussions about how to harness renewable energy for a thriving hydrogen sector, and Kahil Lloyd (Executive Director, Hydrogen and Future Fuels), shared valuable insights about our ambitious hydrogen initiatives. In testament to our success, we're thrilled to announce that Queensland will host the 2024 Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition. Organised by the Sustainable Energy Council and the Australian Hydrogen Council, next year's event will bring together 3,000+ hydrogen industry experts. 🇳🇱🇪🇺The Netherlands is making significant strides in offshore hydrogen production. Minister for Climate and Energy Rob Jetten has sent a letter to parliament with updates on two key demonstration projects: 1️⃣ **Demo 1**: Joint Industry Program Offshore Green Hydrogen Pilot Demo 1 Set to be operational by 2030, this project will integrate a 30-50 MW electrolyser with an existing wind farm in the Hollandse Kust region. This initiative will gather vital knowledge for scaling up hydrogen production at sea. 2️⃣ **Demo 2**: Expected by 2033, a new wind farm (700 MW) north of the Wadden Islands will produce hydrogen, using a hybrid system to generate both hydrogen and electricity. These projects, supported by substantial funding from the Climate Fund (€380 million for Demo 1 and €1.4 billion for Demo 2), are essential for advancing hydrogen technology and ensuring energy independence and climate goals.
