Do you ever have one of those moments when the conversation you’re having with someone gets your brain running at 100 miles an hour and you can practically see those brain synapses snapping? Earlier today, I caught up with Dave Huml, President and CEO of Tennant Company, a global leader in cleaning innovation – and it was so energising hearing the synergies between what Dave and his team are striving for and our own OCS values. We’re both focused on the essence of our business – our people and ensuring the future of our communities. Dave believes there is dignity in all work and that cleaning / janitorial staff serve a critical function in ensuring society can operate safely. As you can imagine, this was music to my ears with just weeks to go before Thank Your Cleaner Day. As leaders, we have a duty of care to our teams to provide them with the education and work-related opportunities they need to lead a fulfilling life. We need to be working with our strategic partners to explore innovation and technologies to provide some of those opportunities. And, ultimately, to leave society and our planet in a much better place. Thanks Dave for your frankness, honesty and for ‘getting’ how important it is to focus on the purpose we have to serve the communities in which we operate. We look forward to strengthening our strategic partnership and working on some exciting projects in the future. #ocs #facilitiesmanagement #leadership #strategicpartnerships

Yesterday we wrapped up our quarterly strategic meeting at Swift. As a small, owner founded company, it’s taken us a minute to get here, but this is the leadership cadence we’ve gotten to, and the one that I would suggest every small independent company would put into place: Quarterly 2-Day leadership off sites with an agenda that has room to breathe and time to connect. We caught three major misalignments in the beautiful space between agenda items. That feed into Quarterly department strategic sessions that align with the recalibration work of the leadership team has joined forces on That inform Quarterly individual performance and goal setting reviews to ensure that everyone is rowing in the same direction. To further an analogy related to water: Think of this as a river of information. For us, this order of meetings represents the right information at the headwaters flowing through the organization without dams or diversions.

Hi all, you're invited to join the upcoming ISM - Houston's Officer Installation and Awards Dinner. My friend, John Atasie, is being installed as president along with a great slate of leaders. This event is important to me, not just as a guest speaker, but as someone deeply invested in the future of energy supply chain leadership. Why does supply chain leadership matter so much? As we've all seen especially over the past few years (some still have the battle wounds to prove it), in the interconnected global marketplace, supply chain leadership plays a pivotal role in driving organizational success. It's not just about managing the flow of goods and services; it's about orchestrating complex networks, fostering collaboration, and navigating challenges with agility and foresight. Consider the energy sector. Supply chain intricacies impact every facet of the energy value chain, from sourcing raw materials to delivering end products. Efficient supply chain management is vital for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of energy resources, enhancing operational resilience, and ultimately, contributing to energy security. Effective supply chain leaders like John Atasie bring a wealth of expertise to the table and understand how all of this ties together. Forums like these are not just opportunities for recognition and celebration, but critical for knowledge exchange and inspiration. By coming together, we can bring the collective wisdom and expertise to drive innovation and excellence in supply management. So, mark your calendars and RSVP! Let's come together to celebrate leadership, excellence, and chart a course for a bright future in supply management. I look forward to seeing you there!

The Crawfordsville Indiana Transportation Team (ITT) leadership did a great work in refining their Decision Rights Matrix which they presented during their committee meeting yesterday. The matrix and new complementing white paper will be presented at the December 21st, 2023 ITT Annual Partnering Conference. Consensus is decision making is most productive at the field level. What tools, processes, and practices do you use to assist in making timely decisions? #INTransportationTeam
