Research request: Part of my work as a coach is working in collaboration with foster/adoption agencies & charities supporting them to support the children and the families they support in the care system. I was adopted myself at age 5. I was placed before that with 2 foster families and placed in a Family Support Unit due to developmental challenges. Everything that happened surrounding my care system circumstances happened nearly 42 years ago. Bearing this in mind I am looking to gain research information about how the whole system works now. Things that would be beneficial for me to find out about specific now are: -What are the stages parents wanting to give up their child with additional needs are required to work through? -Who specifically from the care system authorities are involved in the process at each stage? -What are some of the criteria foster/adoptive parents need to meet to be successful now? -What type of things would go AGAINST parents wishing to foster/adopt? -How much involvement in the process of either adoption or fostering do the families/parents with regard to being able to voice their opinions/concerns and ask questions?

Every year in the New York City area, hundreds of young adults age out of foster care facing daunting statistics: 20% risk homelessness, 25% may encounter the justice system, and 50% risk their children entering foster care. Harcourts Foundation Grant for Special Books A recent Harcourts Foundation grant to ‘A Better Life for Foster Kids Incorporated’ has enabled the inclusion of two trauma-informed books in 400 Crisis Cases for children entering care. A Better Life For Foster Kids, Inc. is a Gippsland-based charity that supports children and carers in the out-of-home-care system. In total, 10 children in every 1000 in Victoria are on care and protection orders (14,947 children across Victoria, AIHW 2021). The majority of children enter out-of-home care with just the clothes they are wearing. The Crisis Cases are wheeled suitcases which provide children of all ages with approximately 55 items of clothing along with toiletries, hand-made dolls, and activity books especially written for children entering care. One of Schott's areas of impact? More loving communities, and clear benefits to #children, families, and neighborhoods.

A survey sent to all foster parents in MN revealed only 17% reported they felt supported by a community of other foster parents. Foster Together MN built the community for foster parents. I didn't need a survey to know that less than at least 17% of new salesforce admins feel that the community fails to provide them real experience before entering the profession. Making "Experience" happen became my personal challenge this year. In 2024, seven salesforce professionals began implementation on a brand new Salesforce org for Foster Together. Last night, we completed our first sprint. The first demo, of many, and the first impressions from the board members crystalized our shared vision. I'm committed to removing the excuse "not enough experience" from employers' vocabulary. Thank goodness these foster parents aren't also told they can't start their family because they also "don't have enough experience". It takes a community to launch a salesforce career. It takes a community to strengthen a family. These concepts are not different. It's Ohana. Food for thought... On any given day, there are approximately 450,000 children in foster care in the United States. Upon reaching age 18: Only 50% will find employment. - 20% will be instantly homeless. - 25% will be incarcerated within 2 years of aging out. - 70% of foster girls end up pregnant before age 21. - 60% end up in the Sex Industry. One of the many 501(c)3 charitable organizations that Sundt Construction and our SUNDT FOUNDATION contributes to every year is Hope & A Future who serves abused and neglected children living in the foster care system. Their purpose is to help these children reach their potential and achieve their dreams and to provide hope to one Arizona foster child at a time! Hope & A Future was formed in 2004 as a Christian nonprofit, that holds programs of summer camps, life skills, mentoring and college scholarships that provide the children the necessary tools to be successful in life.
