We meet a lot of Quality Managers in this line of work. From my perspective, here's what makes them successful or.. not: Successful -Fully owns Quality Unit regardless of management commitment or understanding -Technically proficient in applicable categories (oils, powders, liquids, gummies, etc.) -They understand building systems that make life more predictable is the way to win -Isn't scared to have tough conversations with the leadership team, even if they're scary -Constantly looking for ways to improve themself as an individual -Absolutely obsessed with customer safety and satisfaction -Has strong regulatory awareness -They understand business fundamentals -Asks questions constantly -Unrufflable feathers -No ego Unsuccessful -Blames the state of their lame QMS on "management commitment issues" -Has limited regulatory awareness beyond whatever directly impacts their role -Always says "at my old company..." and proceeds to judge everyone -Looks towards hiring more people (permanently) when confronted with temporary problems -Never has anything nice to say about anyone -Brags about being tough on everyone -Won't ask questions but loves the opportunity to speak -Loose cannon -Easily frustrated Every person, every business, and every role is different. If you can lose the ego, be nice, and be consistent, you'll do ok in this world, regardless of what you do and who you do it for. Unsure how to lose your ego, be nice, and be consistent? Let's talk before your colleagues campaign for your termination. 👀 #quality #compliance #leadership #consulting

Hi All, I was recently asked by a client to help them with a bit of restructuring work, as they are looking to re-jig their Quality department at present. I have done a few of these in the recent past, and the vast majority of the functions have 5 key positions which I wanted to share today and get your feedback so I can provide more insight moving forward. Are there any key roles I am missing from my list, or any other key responsibilities I am missing? #Quality #Qualityrecruitment #MedDevices

🟢 Are you Quality Directionless?? Today Richard talks about how to access a Quality Director without the hefty cost. Quality management is essential for enhancing an organisation's brand and reputation, protecting against risks, increasing efficiency, boosting profits, and reducing waste. However, in a volatile company, Quality Assurance principles may take a back seat as the management team deals with one problem after another. This leaves little time for continuous quality improvement activities that are crucial for every business. A Quality Director can help in such situations by holding the executive directors and the board accountable and managing the company's Quality Strategy and Performance. By identifying barriers to performance and implementing strategies to overcome them, a Quality Director can help a company achieve a more consistent product or service, increased efficiency, higher profitability, and reduced waste. This ultimately leads to outperforming the competition, achieving greater customer satisfaction, and protecting the brand from defects and recalls. Investing in quality management is not just about cost but also about increasing staff motivation and morale, taking the company to a new level of success. Hiring an experienced, non-executive Quality Director on a pro-rata basis can provide the necessary expertise, without the hefty price tag of a full-time hire! By focusing solely on Quality Systems and performance, a non-executive Quality Director can bring valuable insights and drive positive changes in the company. Neglecting quality strategy can result in repeated errors and missed opportunities for improvement, ultimately leaving money on the table. It is essential to invest in quality management to ensure long-term success and growth for the business #QualityAssurance #QualityManagementSystems #Strategy #ISO9001 #processimprovement #leadership #business #QA #personaldevelopment #teamdevelopment #successcoaching #continuousimprovement #QualityDirector

Some of the biggest obstacles I faced as a Director or VP of Quality & Compliance weren't directly related to Quality or Compliance at all. Executive communication was always a challenge. I've had roles where I was one of 12 VPs or 15+ Directors. Now, I could sit here and write about how it was everyone else's fault for not understanding Quality and Compliance. But it wasn't their fault. It was mine. Building a clear, concise outline of initiatives and enterprise-wide impact, with DATES, saved the day for myself and my teams countless times. -What we're doing -Why we're doing it -Why we HAVE to do it -Who it impacts -How it impacts them -When it impacts them This simple framework for executive communication prevented a lot of unnecessary headaches and frustration. #quality #compliance #manufacturing #cpgbrands #consulting

If you're a Quality Manager and can get in and around Glasgow, you should cop a load of this... 👀 Brand spanking new role for one of the market leaders in label production. You'll be coming in as Quality Manager for an already high-performing, meticulous and well-established manufacturer. ✨ Your current salary doesn't matter. This is a new role, if you can bring something to the table then we'd like to chat. So for no other reason of not wanting to exclude anybody, that's why the salary is open. As the ad says (link in the comments) it would be a dream if you're coming into this with print or packaging knowledge but it's open to those outside of the industry too. Anyway, have a little mooch on the link and shout 📣 if you want to have a chat about it. 0161 399 0804 #packaging #labels #qualitymanager

Your company doesn’t care about quality or compliance Really, they don’t They care about the value that comes from solid quality and compliance management systems Next time you have to have a hard conversation in either area Remove yourself from the conversation Stop saying things like: “No one cares about the quality processes I’m working on!” “People don’t listen to me!” Start saying things like: “There’s a disconnect between our processes and our people. Who is the best person to talk to so we can get everything dialed in together?” “Our team has a hard time truly understanding training material. I just walked the production floor (or audited a process) and identified improvement opportunities. Can I work directly with the team to resolve these misunderstandings?” The latter will ALWAYS work better than the former Why? Because no one likes working with emotional team members with complaining as their default reaction Sure, you can FEEL upset But once you ACT upset Especially in a role where you will naturally experience pushback You’ve lost the battle and the war If you act emotional and expect a logical response You are going to be disappointed Because you’ve shifted focus from the team, the business, and shared goals to… Yourself It’s not about you It never was and never will be It’s a hard truth that, once accepted, will change your career Lose the ego and deliver value instead of complaints That is how you succeed in quality and compliance roles #quality #compliance #cpgindustry #manufacturing #brands #dietarysupplements #beautyindustry #foodandbeverage
