Career Development Practitioner-CDP, Career Counselor, TVET Specialist (Technical and Vocational Education Training), Trainer, Enact Youth Skills Company, Youth Development and Empowerment, Mentor
As the chief coordinator and CDP in Planning for the Nairobi Mega Job Fair I learnt and applied a number of strategies thus breaking a number of barriers. This was the only Job Fair for the TVETs- Vocational Training Centers in the country for Nairobi County out of 47 counties. Strategically engaging government and county partners throughout the planning and execution of the job fair, enhanced the overall experience for all stakeholders involved while contributing positively to local workforce development efforts. Planning involved careful coordination among the various stakeholders, from government & county representatives, private sector employers, educational institutions, and community organizations CBOs and Alumni. This included Local administration - The Chief and Assistant Chief. Effectively engaging all stakeholders in the job fair was crucial for ensuring the event's success and maximizing its impact on the community. As a career development practitioner, understanding the expectations and roles of these stakeholders was crucial for the event. Some Strategies I used to engage Government Stakeholders 1. Early Involvement and Collaboration Stakeholder Mapping: mapped out all relevant government, county stakeholders, including local officials, labor departments, and economic development agencies. Involving Them Early: Engaging government & county representatives early in the planning process. This included inviting them to participate in initial meetings to discuss goals and objectives, ensuring they feel invested in the Job Fair from the outset. 2. Clear Communication of Objectives Defined Goals: Clearly articulated the objectives of the job fair, from promoting employment opportunities, facilitating skills development, or enhancing community partnerships. The stakeholders understood how their participation aligned with these goals. 3. Regular Updates: Kept the stakeholders informed about planning progress through regular updates and meetings from Wsup messages and phonecalls. This transparency fostered trust and encouraged ongoing support. The following is among the many discussions we had with the CECM or Waziri. "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships" #fosteringcareerdevelopments #ignitingambitions https://lnkd.in/dsSj3qGy

Tomorrow is the Ball State University Cardinal Job Fair! The Cardinal Job Fair holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I met Marques Fisher back in 2009 (or 2008). Even though we didn’t have a job to offer…just a free student membership, that connection turned into something much more valuable. To this day, I tell students about Marques and how intentional he was about his involvement with the Indiana CPA Society. He didn’t just sign up as a student member—he jumped in, attending events, volunteering, and building connections. I encourage every student to attend recruiting events like this, not just for the potential job offers, but to meet people and build relationships. Engage with the professionals you meet, follow up, and if they offer to have coffee or a chat—take them up on it! Your future career isn’t just about landing a job; it’s about building a network. So, there is no better time to start than now. If you need a pep talk before an interview or event, Anyah E. Cork & I are here for you! #futureCPA #relationships
Students: The Cardinal Job Fair is this week! Ensure you are prepared to connect with some of the top employers in our area and throughout our state. Details here: https://lnkd.in/gtHmGSeS

In a landmark event, the Hamza Foundation, in partnership with GizWe and the Employer Federation of Pakistan, hosted the country’s first-ever job fair dedicated to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). This initiative aimed to break barriers and provide meaningful employment opportunities. Over 30 companies, including ChenOne, Sapphire Finishing Mills, and Cotton Web, participated, highlighting a growing commitment to inclusivity. More than 3,000 attendees from across Punjab, from fresh graduates to experienced professionals, sought dignified work opportunities that are often inaccessible to PWDs. The event began with an address from Miss Shahida Farooq, Director General of Special Education Punjab, who stressed the role of education and employment in fostering inclusivity. Zainab Khan, Director of the Hamza Foundation, emphasized that these job fairs are not just about providing jobs but reshaping workplaces to value individuals for their skills, not their limitations. She also spoke on dismantling physical, social, and attitudinal barriers that have long marginalized PWDs. Companies like ChenOne and Sapphire are taking concrete steps towards inclusion by creating adaptive work environments, offering flexible schedules, and specialized training for PWDs. A spokesperson from Sapphire Finishing Mills noted their commitment to building a workforce that reflects society's diversity. For attendees, the job fair marked the beginning of new opportunities, with many leaving with job offers or promising leads. The success of this event signaled a shift in attitudes towards PWDs, showing that inclusivity is not just a moral obligation but a practical necessity for businesses. As Zainab Khan aptly summarized, “This is just the beginning. Together, we can build a world where every individual, regardless of ability, is given the chance to reach their full potential. #hamzafoundation #specialchildern #specialperson #jobfair

Job faires are always a great way to meet representatives from a company you want to work for. How to make a job fair successful for you? ✔️ Do your homework: find out which companies are going to be present there; make a list of those to your interest, let’s say five. ✔️ Research current or recent openings at those five. Check out their websites and social media. Prepare some questions in advance. ✔️ Prepare a short intro 2-3 sentences about yourself. For example: I am Olena, I am from Ukraine. I used to work as a fundraiser, now I am looking for office entry level positions. I have administrative experience too. Such intro landed me two job interviews back in Aug-Sep 2022, at one of Calgary‘s jobfaires. My clients got hired on the spot for a caregiver and cooks positions (not always happens, but it does). ✔️ Ask for contacts, business cards. Follow up with emails one or two days after the event. Happy to answer your questions in comments.
Ready for your next career move? Join us at the upcoming in-person job fair organized by Calgary Newcomers Collaborative (CNC) powered by Gateway Connects! "Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them aside when you touch the miracle of the living soul. Not theories, but your own creative individuality alone must decide" - Carl Jung This is the best quote that can summarize the experience of being part of this project. Airswift's slogan also fits perfectly: Transforming lives through the world of work #Airswift #WeAreAirswift #ESG #CareerFair #RiodeJaneiro
On August 22, Airswift’s #ESG Committee made strides in empowering youth by hosting a Career Fair in collaboration with EduMais a nonprofit organisation focused on delivering quality education to underprivileged children. The event, held at our Rio office, welcomed young individuals from the Pavão-Pavãozinho and Cantagalo communities, offering them a chance to explore career paths in Marketing, Sales, Service, HR & Recruitment, IT, and Finance. We held a workshop on entering the labour market for 20 students, with tips on how to build an impressive LinkedIn profile, crafting compelling resumes, and mastering interview techniques. This project is a testament to our corporate responsibility and will create a pipeline of Young Apprentices fluent in English for internal vacancies. Many thanks to our local team, who led the speeches! Nana Terra, Fernanda Mangabeira, Elaine Aguiar, Renan Paiva, Mariana Santos, Levi Costa, Fernanda NEGRÃO, Thamyres Martins de Oliveira, Isabela de Souza Farias da Silva, Fabio Coacci. #CareerFair #YouthEmpowerment #EducationForAll
