If 96% of UK charities describe themselves as "small", is it time to start redefining what we mean by 'small charities'? Surely the term 'small charity' must bear some relation to the size of charities more broadly. You can't say a rhino is a small animal simply because it's much smaller than a blue whale. It would be absurd to say France is a small country because Canada is so much bigger. So why do we persist in considering charities with 20 salaried staff and a turnover of £1m a year "small". Your thoughts please! #NonProfitNetworking #SocialGood #CharityInnovation #NonProfitLeadership #CharityWorkshops

Really great to be out and about again this week after struggling with a nasty virus since Christmas. Cotswold Networking was on Wednesday and I've arranged a few 1:1's on the back of it with Lawyers and other coaches. There is no doubt that giving people the opportunity to meet me and talk to me in person adds huge value to my business. My success is totally based on me - personality, my style of communication, my integrity, trustworthiness and authenticity. I'm not going to be right for everyone, and that is ok, but putting myself 'out there' is the best way for people to know I exist, what I can do for Clients and whether I am the right person to meet their needs. So, one piece of advice for you in 2025 - if you are running or setting up a small business, get out networking and meeting people, you never know where it might lead. #businessnetworking #networking #connections #divorcecoach #relationshipcoach
Great networking event in Cirencester on Wednesday at the fabulous Roots and Seeds! A great presentation by Matt Corke Kingfisher Place Financial Planning about himself and the launch of his new business. It’s great news and we wish him well. Also another of our members, Martin Weaver did a quick talk on how he is cycling the length of New Zealand to raise money for Heals, one of the local charities we support in Malmesbury. His aim is to raise £4.5k to send local children, who wouldn’t get a holiday this year, on a great holiday camp trip in the summer. Best of luck Martin! Fundraising link https://lnkd.in/ewf7-ueA? Cleanliness is next to ESG: Venue guests forego housekeeping to benefit community organisations. Guests at Wyboston Lakes Resort Woodlands Event Centre and Willows Training Centre can now support local charities by opting out of housekeeping during multi-night stays. Through the Room2Give initiative, choosing not to have your room cleaned directs donations to community organisations like The Pavement Project, Samuel Pepys School, and Woodgreen Pets Charity. Have you read our blog? ‘Labour’s Landslide: What the new government means for charities and non-profits’. It goes through some of the policies and promises that could impact charities. “It's been reported that 242 MPs in the Labour government have experience in the charity sector, ranging from employees, volunteers and fundraisers. There are also eight members of the cabinet that have worked in charities as opposed to the Conservative government’s cabinet of which only two members had worked in charities, according to an article by Pro Bono Economics.” Read more on our website. #thecharityspark #labourgovernment #charityimpact #newgovernment

The Havering Volunteer Centre has been making a real difference in #Havering, thanks to support from the #LowerThamesCrossing Community Fund. With this funding, it’s registered 138 new volunteers, including 52 young people working on their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. It’s also provided training to help charities engage younger volunteers and created a 'warm hub' community space where people can connect over hot drinks. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eEnyVjr4
