As part of their mission to actively drive the energy transition, SachsenEnergie has partnered with SpinLab since 2021. In a recent interview, SachsenEnergie CEO Dr. Frank Brinkmann highlighted the need for adaptability, stating: "#Energy supply used to be a calm, steady flow, but those days are over. We can't make progress through bureaucracy. As we embark on the journey through 2024, everyone at Floating Power Plant is brimming with excitement and anticipation. 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 #𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬? To date, most start-ups active along the green hydrogen value chain in project development, EPC, generation, transport and storage obtained funding in financing rounds from venture capital and infrastructure funds. One prominent German example is Sunfire, a manufacturer for industrial electrolyzers, which attracted Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Blue Earth Capital as additional sponsors in its 2022 series D-2 round. Pitchbook’s recent “2024 Industrial Technology Outlook” suggests that many green hydrogen-focused companies meanwhile have matured and offer more efficient generation and better transportation and storage solutions. In addition, the regulatory framework gets more and more refined and improved and instruments such as the European Hydrogen Bank were designed to boost the required offtake. In other words: Green hydrogen companies have become ideal acquisition targets for large energy companies! These are obviously very experienced with large-scale energy projects. They are closely monitoring the hydrogen economy to spot opportunities and secure their share of the upcoming developments. But most of them still lack the technology to start generating, transporting and storing green hydrogen at a large scale. So coming back to the initial question, the answer may indeed very well be YES! 2024 may be the year where the consolidation of the so-far pretty fragmented hydrogen industry is getting kicked-off by large energy companies shopping promising start-ups. And of course, it will be interesting to see which other players join the party. Infrastructure and impact funds will for sure be in the mix. But will also larger pure hydrogen players themselves look to compliment their offering and market position? Snam S.p.A., Europe’s leading operator in natural gas transport, with a network of approximately 38,000 km in Italy and abroad, has chosen Elestor B.V. as one of the winning startups of its third global corporate accelerator focused on hydrogen technologies, called #DecarbonizationNexus. More than 50 startups applied to Snam’s Decarbonization Nexus programme, which was created to identify and advance innovative technologies across the entire hydrogen value chain. For our innovative hydrogen flow-battery, designed for long-duration energy storage applications, we have been selected to continue the acceleration journey for an additional four months. Our cooperation with Snam will demonstrate our ability as a provider of hydrogen-based flow battery technology to offer robust, affordable, long-term, large-scale and scalable storage of clean energy.   During the programme, we will evaluate the potentiality and feasibility of connecting Elestor BV flow-battery directly to the H2-infrastructure. #LDES #Energystorage #Hydrogen

Offshore wind operates in a very harsh, salt-corrosive environment, with blades subject to stress loads from the wind and exposure to environmental factors. They are more prone to lightning strikes and manufacturing defects due to their larger size. By monitoring how damage progresses on these blades, we can prevent million-dollar blade failures that occur annually.
