"It is very rewarding to move from fundamental research in the lab towards making a positive impact on the world." In this video by NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek), professor Wim Noorduin talks about his research that yielded a unique lead detection test that is now available in more than 20 countries to citizens and NGOs. For this, the Dutch Research Council NWO awarded him the prestigious Stairway to Impact Award yesterday. Noorduin is a group leader at AMOLF and holds an endowed chair at our institute. #FlipThroughDialogue 📖 In the Yearbook Dialogue Igor Papič, PhD, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation highlighted the importance of fostering innovation and collaboration for national progress and emphasized the significance of the Scientific Research and Innovation Activities Act (ZZrID), calling it a crucial step in Slovenia's scientific journey: "Our aim is to move Slovenia from being moderate innovators to becoming innovation leaders. Next steps for CoARA initiatives in DK: Meeting on September 24 with the aim to enhance Collaboration Between Danish Foundations and Universities 📅🤝   Today, representatives from the Danish foundations and universities meet to discuss how to collectively push forward the CoARA agenda. The aim is to include more diversity in research evaluation and assessment at the universities and by the foundations. 🌍📊 With an increasing focus on Open Science, new demands for documenting quality of research impact, including societal impact is key, and traditional metrics can no longer stand alone 📚🔍   Solutions are necessary to provide infrastructure to assess research projects and researchers more broadly, and the use of responsible metrics and documentation of different types of impact calls for collective efforts. To address these questions and find possible solutions, Danmarks Frie Forskningsfond (DFF), Villum Fonden, and Aalborg Universitet (AAU) have invited Danish funders and universities to discuss how collaboration on the CoARA agenda can take place to ensure transparent, sustainable, and responsible solutions to research assessment.   #CoARA #OpenScience #AAU #DFF #VillimFoundation

This panel is intended to contribute to the research on trust in science and is part of the Inspiring and Anchoring Trust in Science -IANUS Project, which aims to strengthen trust in science, research and innovation at a systemic level by promoting participation in research as a creative and inclusive process, taking into account the values, concerns and needs of society.
