The concept of #AMR and #OneHealth envisages a world where drug-resistant infections no longer pose a threat to the health of humans and animals, the environment, global food security and economic prosperity. The vision of global One Health diplomacy also aims to mobilize multiple sectors, disciplines, and communities to work together in fostering well-being and tackling threats to health and ecosystems. #WAAH (Water Agri Animal and Human Health) - A Indo-Dutch initiative is creating a platform in mitigating the impact of human activity on the environment and wildlife habitats, and how this drives disease threats. On the 23rd January, together with Netherlands Innovation Network India and (SurvivX), Switzerland - Swissnex in India, Consulate General of Switzerland), Denmark- Innovation Centre Denmark Bangalore and India Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) organized a roundtable to discuss the WAAH Accelerator platform initiative to enhance the R&D and innovation in the AMR and One Health field in India. Last Friday marked the start of the #ROOMMATE project and the Medea Project team participated at the Kick off meeting at Fondazione Don Gnocchi in Florence. It was an important day where we had the opportunity to meet our project partners in person, exchange ideas and outline the work of the next two years together. 🆕 What is the #ROOMMATE project about? The #ROOMMATE ecosystem aims to overcome current barriers to the implementation of technological solutions in the continuum of rehabilitation, addressing the issues of #accessibility, #sustainability, and #equity of care for all, based on three interrelated pillars:  1) the development and implementation of accessible, high quality and sustainable technological solutions at the patient’s bedside to promote their use in the continuum of rehabilitation care;  2) the adoption of a human centred approach based on patients, caregivers and health professionals’ involvement in the study co-design and implementation to target solutions to their expressed needs and wishes;  3) expert coaching of end users towards health and digital literacy and technology adoption throughout the pathway. #ROOMMATE is relevant to the goals of the #THCS as we aim to identify and develop innovative technological solutions aimed at relieving the pressure on health and care facilities, proposing a profound transformation of current stroke rehabilitation pathways based on the complementary expertise of the Consortium. #Medea #Kickoffmeeting #ROOMMATE #EuropeanPartnership #THCS

Yukon Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (YSPOR) is collaborating on a blend of traditional and innovative approaches to community-driven research and health care. Piper Fordham, YSPOR Research Assistant, collaborates with Gu Nähtsey to enhance hospital support for Indigenous communities. Gu Nähtsey, in Hän, means 'plants we all pick/harvest.' It's also the name of the Medicine Working Group, formed in partnership with YSPOR and the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin First Nation. The group consists of Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin citizens, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth, and community partners, including Dawson City Community Hospital, Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Wellness and YSPOR representatives. Together, they focus on nutrition, traditional medicines, smudging and hospital access. Piper is planning to lead a survey that aims to enhance Indigenous health care. The Medicine Working Group is dedicated to promoting community wellness by sharing seasonal medicinal plant knowledge. Expert Knowledge Keepers/Seekers conduct workshops four times a year to teach community members how to utilize these local plants. Do we need NorData in addition to NorTrials? Everyone at Norway Life Science conference agreed: we need faster access to our health data than we achieve today, if we are to reap value from this "gold" for patients, health services and society! The welfare model itself depends on us quickly facilitating both the infrastructure and cooperation needed for better utilisation of Norwegian health data. The discussions of the past two days have strengthened our belief that it is possible to unlock the full value potential of our health data. Based on good experiences with public-private partnerships such as NorTrials, Health2B and CONNECT, we throw out the question: do we need a NorData partnership to succeed? The world is experiencing the negative outcomes of climate change across industries like Agriculture etc. But healthcare is no exception. Climate change threatens everyone’s health. Every degree Celsius the world heats translates into a potentially devastating health outcome. Research finds climate change has exacerbated more than half of known human infectious diseases. As a health-tech company, one of the greatest challenges of our time will be to better understand this growing threat so that we can help protect human health. Medikea’s contribution to the global collective efforts in the fight against climate change by minimizing the negative impacts of climate change on people's health is something we are proud of. One example is the effects heat stress can have on the fetuses of pregnant women living/working in extreme temperatures. Exposure of pregnant women to high heat results in concerning rises in fetal heart rate, and reduced blood flow to the placenta as temperatures increase. Through our AnteNatal clinic program, we have been able to provide pregnant women with comprehensive care that can enable them to prevent heat stress-related pregnancy complications throughout their pregnancy journey until delivery. I believe, as much as we are focused on making high-quality healthcare easily accessible and more affordable to everyone. We must not ignore the existing threats that undo/slow the progress we are making to realize our vision. And as of now, climate change is a growing threat. We are proud of having Catalyst Fund as one of our early strategic partners in supporting our efforts in building a tech-enabled climate-resilient health system for Tanzania and Africa as the primary line of defense against climate–related shocks and stressors. Through the support from Catalyst Fund, we can scale up much-needed care to communities affected by the impacts of changing climate such as increasing vector–borne and diarrheal diseases, as well as climate–related hazards like heatwaves, floods, and air pollution. How do you bring together the agenda for health for all the ages spanning 0 to 19 years when we have spent decades dividing things up? Great meeting organised by WHO-AFRO team with participants from many African countries to spend some time working through opportunities and challenges in the hope of charting a way forward. Integrated PHC approaches are key with a shift in mindset to systems thinking rather than programme-specific thinking.
