Great news! We have received £4000 from Scottish Children's Lottery Trust to support the work of our Youth Service. 🤝 This funding will help us to reach young people in the Scottish Highlands to ensure they have access to the support they need. Youth Service Lead Grant Walker said: “It will have a profound impact on young people in rural areas, enabling us to deliver vital services and create opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. We’re so grateful to the Scottish Children’s Lottery for helping to make this possible.” Please join us in thanking Scottish Children’s Lottery for its support. #WhatAreTheChances #YouthSupport #ScottishHighlands #ThankYou #MakingADifference #ScottishChildrensLottery

Here at The National Lottery Community Fund Wales / Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol Cymru, we want to build on our support for impactful community led projects. We are looking to make a bigger difference in the years ahead and to be more focused across our four new missions which are supporting communities to come together, be more environmentally sustainable, help children and young people thrive and enable people to live healthier lives. As set out recently in our new Corporate Plan, we will be applying a sharper focus on tackling inequality meaning we will focus more on the places, people and communities who experience poverty, disadvantage and discrimination in Wales. We will also be supporting environmental action across all our funding and supporting projects to consider the environment even when it isn’t their main focus. With that in mind, we are refreshing our funding offer in Wales to ensure that the grants we give out are matching these priorities. We have already increased the amount of money you can receive through National Lottery Awards for All to £20,000, and we are currently refreshing People and Places too. We have numerous funding streams currently open, and you can stay up to date with all our latest funding news by signing up to our Grantholder Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/ewFQy85f Read more about the development in Wales to our funding to support what matters most to communities in this blog: https://lnkd.in/eZSHYh45 https://lnkd.in/eBPtmnka

Sometimes, receiving only partial grant funding can feel like a setback, especially when you've invested so much into a project that you know will benefit the community. But no matter the size, every outcome is a positive step forward. Each contribution is a vote of confidence in our work, and recognising and appreciating our funders is a vital part of that journey. I've come to see these moments as an opportunity to refocus and push ahead with resilience. Funding outcomes—big or small—highlight the support behind our mission and the impact we can make together. To everyone working hard to secure resources for community impact: keep going, acknowledge every win, and never underestimate the value of each supporter. Keep going, trust in your mission, and remember the difference your work makes. 🌱💪 #CommunityFunding #Resilience #GrantWriting #EnvironmentalImpact #RestoreRodneyEast

⚠️ In my experience mental health professionals can do more than pull people out of the river! They have a role in every part of this image 💪🏻 I see a version of this where politicians, organisations and businesses are consulting with therapists to mend that bridge, and make it strong 🏞️ Let’s move our efforts upstream! #upstream #prevention #earlyintervention
This is the quote I have had above my desk for several years now. It’s why we’ve been building our youth and community offer in addition to the high quality homes & support we provide at YMCA MILTON KEYNES. We now have six new youth clubs running in three locations across Milton Keynes thanks to funding from the The National Lottery Community Fund Million Hours Fund, with special thanks also to MK Community Foundation for supporting the strategic development of our youth and community work. If you’d like to know more about any of our youth and community services, please drop Tayler Tookey or myself a line. You can also find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eDd4rY5i Thanks to Juliet Young for the image. #youthandcommunity #ymca #miltonkeynes #youthclubs

🤝 We are working with a number of other funders to collectively support the development needs of organisations in the local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Redcar and Cleveland. The partners for this work are; Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, The National Lottery Community Fund, The Rank Foundation, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Tees Foundation, and Woodsmith Foundation. 📋 Earlier this year we conducted a survey of VCSE organisations to find out about what support and services they need now, and in the future, and how they would like those services to be provided. A summary report of the survey can be found on our website. We now wish to commission and fund a support service that will meet the needs of, and advocate for, VCSE organisations in Redcar and Cleveland. There is one grant available, full details can be found here https://lnkd.in/dJP7WSZK #redcarandcleveland #VCSE #collaboration #supportlocal

Great news, everyone! I've found you a funder that supports charities working with disadvantaged young people, people with disabilities and older people. Modest grants of £2-5k but in the current climate every little helps, right? There are a few teeny tiny limitations on how you can spend the money, though. No big deal, but don't apply if you needed funds for: ❌ Running expenses for your organisation or project ❌ Salaries ❌ Training costs ❌ Office equipment/furniture ❌ Projects for "general community use" ❌ Disabled access to community buildings ❌ Publication costs e.g. printing & leaflets ❌ Trips, activities or events ❌ Community sports or play facilities ❌ Exterior works ❌ Consumables (e.g. stationery, arts and crafts materials) ❌ Research projects ❌ Welfare funds for individuals ❌ Medical equipment If you've got this far and somehow still have some surviving budget lines, bear in mind this kind funder also says that these exclusions "are some examples and the list is not exhaustive" (it sure is exhausting though). So you could always try submitting an application in the hope they don't arbitrarily decide your expenditure isn't valid either. What have you got to lose, except perhaps your valuable time, sanity, and faith in humanity? I know lots of bigger funders are taking encouraging steps towards focusing on core and unrestricted funding. But it's very much the tip of the iceberg. There are 8,000+ UK trusts & foundations out there and a huge number of them are still taking this kind of regressive approach. For smaller charities especially, it's restrictive, damaging and draining. Please stop.

While progress is being made in achieving universal primary education in sub-Saharan Africa, there is a critical need to focus on expanding access to secondary education, particularly for disadvantaged populations. Secondary education remains a distant aspiration for many children from impoverished backgrounds in the region. African Population and Health Research Center Research indicates that the current system predominantly benefits the wealthier segment of society (Oketch, 2007). The primary barrier to secondary education in sub-Saharan Africa is the prohibitive cost, which acts as a barrier for many children from low-income families. #Education #SubSaharanAfrica #SecondaryEducation #AccessToEducation #Equality
Our sponsorship program depends largely on donor funding and minimal contributions from parents. Most beneficiaries' parents cannot sustain school fees, but our program continues to offer services to the assisted children.
