Cancel your weekend plans – our newest report in now online and available for download!! After 18 months of research we are very proud to launch ‘The Bequest Report: Reshaping Australia by passing on more than assets’ - https://lnkd.in/e8G5m5yf Why is this research on Bequests relevant now?  Because this period of wealth transition is a once in a generation opportunity to unlock significant pools of capital, which have accumulated in many Australian households, for social impact. Some key observations to whet your appetite: ·       We estimate total inheritances will be approximately $150 billion in 2024 ·       Only 1% of this amount will go to for-purpose organisations (compared to 4.4% in the USA and 3.7% in UK). ·       In Australia, bequests currently make up approx. 0.6% of total income for charities (compared to 1.8% in the US and a significant 4.5%in the UK) ·       Over the next 20 years, we estimate a massive $5.4 trillion will move across generations. The size of the prize is obvious: if we can lift of bequest percentage from 1% to 4-5%, then we can increase the flow of capital by tens of billions of dollars to help address some of the many pressing social and environmental needs. Our aspiration with this report is to provide high quality insight to help everyone across the social impact ecosystem to develop and implement more effective strategies. We look forward to working closely with our for-purpose and private clients to help them turn these insights into strategies that help them achieve their ambitions. My gratitude to John McLeod for dedicating himself to another piece of market leading research - and to Kim Venter for her contribution. History has many examples of bequests that have transformed the lives of individuals and communities, but very little is known about bequests. Until now.    Today we release the JBWere Bequest Report: Reshaping Australia by passing on more than assets, authored by John McLeod,  Senior Research Consultant, Family Advisory and Philanthropic Services, JBWere Australia. This report explores the true scale of this opportunity in Australia, including insights such as:    - Only $1.3 billion of the staggering $150 billion that will be transferred through inheritances will be allocated to charities.  - The cause areas which attract most of the bequests.  - The extent to which some major charities increasingly rely on bequests as a crucial funding source.   Our aspiration is that this report provides valuable insight to all our clients – individuals, families, corporations, and for-purpose organisations. It is through quality research, tailored advice, and access to our network that we fulfil our purpose to ‘give clients the confidence to do what matters’.     Download the report at https://lnkd.in/gCUxR-rk   If you want to discuss how we can partner with you, please contact your JBWere Advisory team or our philanthropic experts at philanthropic.services@jbwere.com    #jbwere #bequests #philanthropy #givingback #communityimpact #australia #creatingchange  Michael Saadie Maria Lykouras Andrew Bird Shamal Dass Kim Venter Andrew Leaw Wendy Scott-Hamilton Josephine Paino Peter Roach Jayde Ward Tamara Kolevski Natalie Moutia

And as I understand it, this massive wealth transfer will largely be going to women. Did you put a gender lens on the research (its not the weekend so I haven't read the report yet...)
