Removing Health Barriers This Pride Day and Beyond According to National Kidney Foundation, studies have found that over 50% of LGBTQ+ people experience some form of healthcare discrimination. 🏳️🌈 This can cause them to avoid healthcare altogether, often resulting in dire consequences – including increased risk of health problems. At Somatus, we’re focused on removing barriers to care and improving health access for ALL populations. We want to express the importance of equality in healthcare for every member of the LGBTQ + community. Learn more about how you can advocate for yourself and LGBTQIA+ rights, disparities, and how to provide inclusive care here: https://lnkd.in/eqxBnXjm #Healthcare #Equality #PrideDay

📅 Today, 17th May, we recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). 🤔 Did you know this date holds a special significance? In 1990, the World Health Organisation took a historic step by declassifying homosexuality as a mental illness. This decision marked a turning point in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. It challenged outdated perceptions and paved the way for greater understanding and acceptance. While progress has been made, LGBTQ+ individuals still face discrimination and violence around the world. Here at Stanley & Davis, we believe in diverse and inclusive workplaces where everyone feels valued and respected. Here are some thought provoking questions for us to consider today: ⏺ How can we, as individuals and as a company, be better allies to the LGBTQ+ community? ⏺ What can we do to challenge prejudice and promote inclusion? Let's use this day to spark conversations, educate ourselves, and celebrate the LGBTQ+ members of our community. #diversity #inclusion #equality #StanleyandDavis

Interesting insights from Stonewall on #IDAHOBIT. The UK used to be #1 in Europe for LGBTQ+ rights, and we're now listed at #16. Why? And what we can do? It's the easiest thing in the world to say that you don't want these things 'shoved down your throat', but we still have significant inequality for LGBTQ+ people within our society and our workplaces. There are actions we can all take to address this.
🌎 This International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Lesbophobia, and Transphobia, we're looking at where we are for LGBTQ+ rights in the UK. 📊 New ILGA-Europe rankings released this week show the UK is stalling on progress compared to its neighbours. What does this mean in reality for LGBTQ+ people’s lives, and how can we get back on track? Stand with the LGBTQ+ community this #IDAHOBLIT. Donate today ▶️ https://bit.ly/44KTzGZ. #IDAHOBLIT2024

🌈 It's International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Let's stand together and continue to educate ourselves on how we can best support the LGBTQ+ community, and work towards a world free from discrimination and prejudice. These insights underscore the significant role brands play in advocating for and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Let’s take these insights to heart and continue to strive for inclusivity and equality in all that we do. 🧡 #IDAHOBIT2024

Equality, diversity, and inclusion are critical to being an effective regulator. We support the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia 🏳️🌈 A day to celebrate victories, but also draw attention to the continued struggles #IDAHOBIT2024 Our LGBTQ+ staff network provides support and community for our LGBTQ+ staff and also push for change within the organisation that can benefit LGBTQ+ doctors and patients. One recent example of this is our apology for the action we took against doctors who were cautioned or convicted under repealed homophobic laws. Our apology is addressed to all those affected by these cases, including the families and loved ones of the doctors involved and the LGBTQ+ community. In this blog, our network members explain how they brought past injustices of homophobia to light, and they share their feelings when they found out more about these shocking cases: https://lnkd.in/eyXKBgmJ

🌈 June and Pride Month have passed, but fostering inclusivity and diversity within the Interim community is a natural extension of our core values. Respect and Kindness: Interim respects and celebrates all gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations. We use hope, education, peer advocacy, and empowerment to create safe spaces for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Safe spaces where identities are not disregarded, overlooked or marginalized but rather respected and celebrated. Interim provides quarterly Safe Zone training to direct care and non-direct care staff, which focuses on learning about LGBTQ+ identities, gender and sexuality, and examines prejudice, assumptions, and privilege. The goal of providing these trainings is to educate and bring awareness to the stigma that members of the LGBTQ+ community face. Welcoming Community: In order to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community, Interim will continue to actively advocate for and listen to the voices of the LGBTQ+ community. Through this advocacy, Interim can provide culturally appropriate and inclusive care. Pride Without Prejudice: Pride PEI Pride PEI's claim of fostering an inclusive community through their events starkly contrasts with their support for antisemitic policies, alienating Jewish LGBTQ+ members and their allies. What They Say: Pride PEI aims to create an inclusive community through their annual festival, parade, and ongoing social events, education, and advocacy. What They Do: Exclusionary Practices: By endorsing a BDS policy, Pride PEI actively promotes antisemitism. Creating a hostile environment for Jewish LGBTQ+ community members and their allies, Pride PEI has encouraged participants to display divisive pro-Palestinian symbols whose use recently has been to intimidate and incite. Selective Solidarity: Their support for a movement that marginalizes Jewish individuals starkly contradicts their professed commitment to inclusivity and respect. We call on Pride PEI to practice what they preach and ensure a truly inclusive and safe space for all. #PrideWithoutPrejudice #Inclusivity #PracticeWhatYouPreach #PridePEI #JewishPride
