As part of our Regional Action Plan, we've developed a new model to guide greater public investment. The 1-2-4 Framework for Homelessness Solutions calls for concurrent investments in interim housing, permanent housing solutions, and homelessness prevention to achieve a drastic reduction in unsheltered homelessness. To date, 13 jurisdictions have endorsed the 1-2-4 Framework and Regional Action Plan. Read more about the 1-2-4 Framework in our Impact Report. https://lnkd.in/g4WQaiPS

Following the Budget announcement, it's crucial to address homelessness, a challenge we all face. Increased budget provisions for council initiatives and temporary housing subsidies are steps forward, easing financial burdens and enabling essential shelter provision. Furthermore, boosting Discretionary Housing Payments by £100m is a key preventive effort against homelessness. We must advocate for substantial investment in services, vital after years of underfunding, to achieve sustainable housing solutions. This is an investment in our collective future—to move towards a society where homelessness is a thing of the past. Let's discuss how we can progress together. #EndHomelessness #Budget2023 #HousingCrisis

"As the affordable housing shortage grows in Missouri, we need to take serious steps in addressing how we view the causes of homelessness, the lack of affordable housing, and the solutions needed to address these issues. This is not only about the lack of affordable housing, but also the very real impact this issue has on communities in Missouri." High impact Budget We are seeing record demand for homelessness services and support. We welcome Treasurer Daniel Mookhey's 2024-25 budget as an "unprecedented intervention in the housing market" by the NSW government. Harnessing underutilized public land will inject 21,000 homes into the housing sector, with 8,400 homes allocated for public housing. The impact of having a safe, affordable and permanent home cannot be understated. This funding is a legacy investment in the people of NSW. #nswbudget #socialhousing

Spotlight on ULI Los Angeles–In the hopes of catalyzing new long-term actions to reduce homelessness, our team in LA has developed a 7-pillar primer to frame what contributes to approximately 60,000 people being unhoused in Los Angeles County. These pillars are prisms through which policies and programs can be assessed, especially as our team works collaboratively to implement holistic housing solutions for the area. To explore the pillars, read the report here: https://bit.ly/40clxcF

#SCOTUS' decision on #JohnsonVGrantsPass allows local governments to punish people for sleeping outside when they have nowhere else to go, even though experts agree that criminalizing homelessness only makes it harder to solve. Luckily, the rest of this week’s news has the Bay Area poised to double down on proven solutions to homelessness. ✔ On Tuesday, we released our Regional Action Plan that serves as a roadmap to making homelessness rare, brief and one-time. ✔ On Wednesday, MTC voted to put a $20 billion affordable housing bond measure on the November ballot of all Bay Area counties. ✔ On Thursday, the Legislature voted to put structural change to enable housing solutions on the ballot statewide through ACA 10. Despite the disappointing ruling made earlier today, we cannot afford to let it distract us from the proven solutions right in front of us. Let’s come together and choose a better future for the Bay Area, where everyone in our region can stay here and thrive. https://lnkd.in/gz9ZDqKP

To end homelessness, we need more homes. Yet traditional housing models can be costly and time-consuming. The Step Up America model utilizes public-private partnerships to fund motel conversions, creating new permanent supportive housing at half or even a third of the cost and in a third of the time.

"The solution is simple: we need the political will to make proven supportive housing models a funding priority. With adequate support from all levels of government, we can green-light construction on those buildings and with operating funding included, we can support more programs for people with complex needs."
