New research released by charity the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) United Kingdom has revealed the lasting impact of the cost-of-living crisis on the charity sector. 53% of those surveyed said that financial pressures are making it ‘unaffordable’ for them to donate to charities. Donations by people in the Midlands were found to be most affected by the rising costs of living, with a higher average of individuals being unable to donate due to increased costs. The research also suggests that young people have been largely impacted, with over half of 18–24-year-olds saying that they are finding it difficult to make donations. Despite the struggle to donate, many of those surveyed showed a high level of trust in charities and believe that they deliver value for money. 📢 Community Call to Action The Ontario government is issuing $200 cheques to eligible adults and children under 18. While this will provide much-needed support to many, some individuals have shared that they don’t require the funds and are choosing to donate them instead. Here in Peterborough, the demand for assistance is higher than ever. Families are facing hunger, housing insecurity, isolation, and health challenges, and local charities are working tirelessly to address these needs. There are many local organizations that could benefit from additional support from you. If you’re in a position to give, consider donating your rebate to a charity that aligns with your values. You can find organizations through platforms like CanadaHelps (https://buff.ly/2Lot8xR), donate directly to your chosen charity, or support the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough (https://buff.ly/41viYmA) 🌟 Together, we can strengthen our community and provide hope to those who need it most. #HereForGood #GiveWhereYouLive

I have just listened to an American webinar on reviving generosity led by very influential sector leaders. Households giving to charity down 15%. Number of USA donors claiming tax benefits 9%. 43% of the population do not trust charities. Crisis? And yet not one mention of legacy giving. In fact one speaker focused on charities needing to gain new young donors. In the middle of a cash crisis? When retention of the young is so low? What about older donors who can afford to give now and in their Wills. Legacy giving is due to double globally in the next 20 years. It is perhaps time not to think of the USA charity sector as being more advanced than U.K. #afp #case #bequests #philanthropy #legacyfundraising #fundraising #donors

The cost of living crisis has not only affected our beneficiaries but has also had a significant impact on our charity's operations. Rising costs for rent, utilities, and other operational expenses mean we need more funds just to maintain our current level of service. Specifically, we have experienced a 32% rise in the cost of support sessions and a 47% increase in the cost of our resources. Each year, we require £450,000 to sustain our operations and maintain the essential services we offer. These funds are crucial for us to keep our doors open, reach those in need, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people. With your support we become one step closer to breaking the cycle of exploitation for children and young people. You can help us to continue to provide vital work by following the link to our donations page: https://lnkd.in/dVMBUZRi #CostofLivingCrisis #SmallCharity #LinktoChange

Or services reduced as a basic minimum…
“𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓” We're not against the Government raising funds for vital services, but estimates suggest that the National Insurance increase alone could cost the homelessness sector up to £60m per year. Coupled with the rise in the National Living Wage, this is forcing extreme financial pressure on already stretched #homelessness services - and could lead to increased caseloads for staff and smaller charities closing altogether. This is unacceptable, so we're working with other organisations to seek an NI increase exemption for charities. #NIRise #NationalInsurance #Tax #Homelessness #Charity
