I had been waiting for this document. Now I would ask that and Strategy professionals immerse themselves into not only this document but the State Department Strategic Framework for Space Diplomacy. Together between both departments and the Commercial sector we can advance a common vision for space with our allies and partners. Those that aspire to be space faring nations can look to the U.S. once again as a beacon for knowledge in this newest domain. Countries dont want Power competition or being a Pawn in other's great game. Security Cooperation and integrated deterrence can only be achieved by embracing #humansecurity and concepts of #wps as we build a new global Space culture that embraces the whole population of our partners. https://lnkd.in/gQ8brvBR

Our #space industry is more than satellites; it's about safeguarding national interests and fostering #innovation. Australia's geography offers unique advantages for space launches, but without a thriving local space sector, these advantages remain untapped. Recent funding cuts to Australia's space programs compromise our space capabilities and strategic positioning. This for many is unacceptable and you can understand why those affected are looking to this current Labour government for answers.   The cancellation of vital programs like the National Space Mission for Earth Observation leaves us heavily reliant on foreign-owned satellites, jeopardising our access to critical data. This dependence undermines our ability to act independently in defence and other strategic domains.   How can we collaboratively reshape our national space policy and strategies to maintain a balance between public and private investment, ensuring that Australia retains its sovereign space capabilities and regains the momentum it was building prior to the change of government? #DefenceIndustry #SpaceIndustry #Investment #Strategy #AustralianSpacePolicy

This comes after a Reuters report exposed Elon Musk’s SpaceX building hundreds of surveillance satellites for a US intelligence agency. According to the Reuters report, SpaceX's Starshield division is leading the project under a classified $1.8 billion contract with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). The move deepens SpaceX's ties with national security agencies. The initiative aims to construct a vast network of spy satellites orbiting low Earth to bolster ground forces' support. If successful, it could significantly enhance the US' ability to swiftly identify potential targets worldwide. China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) decried US "hypocrisy and double standards," urging vigilance against US-induced security threats. Meanwhile, experts warned of challenges to global stability due to heightened surveillance activities. As tensions escalate, the SpaceX satellite project raises concerns about its impact on international security dynamics.

Breaking News: The Technology Safeguards Agreement (TSA) has just been ratified into law, enabling U.S. companies to conduct space launch and return activities from Australian territory. What's Next? Under the TSA, U.S. companies planning to launch and return space assets from Australia must complete a Technology Transfer Control Plan and a Technology Security Plan. These plans are essential for exporting U.S. space assets to Australia. What about the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)? The TSA complements ITAR, acting as an add-on rather than a replacement. It streamlines regulatory processes for U.S. companies exporting space assets to Australia, adding additional safeguard protocols.
