Today marks the beginning of National Military Appreciation Month, a time to honor the valor, service, and unwavering commitment of the courageous men and women who serve our nation. We not only salute those in uniform – we also honor those family members and loved ones who dutifully stand by their service men and women – who make their commitment to serve possible. At Siemens Government Technologies, we are firmly committed to supporting those who defend our freedoms, our way of life, and uphold the cherished values we share. We are also proud to stand with those organizations who play a direct part in that network of community and family support, like Hope for the Warriors. With programs and resources tailored to the unique needs of military families and veterans, they help fill gaps that others simply cannot. This month Hope For The Warriors® inspires that community of support and its supporters to participate in their Memorial Day 30x30 Challenge. For 30 days, participants in the challenge commit to at least 30 minutes of activity each day as a way of showing their support for the military community. Together, let us dedicate this month to honoring those who serve selflessly and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸 🔗 United State Navy, United States Air Force, US Navy, US Army, U.S. Coast Guard, United States Marine Corps, United States Space Force, United States Army Reserve #SGT #Siemens #SiemensGovernmentTechnologies #NationalMilitaryAppreciationMonth #militaryappreciation #veterancommunity #militarysupport

West Point military academy drops 'Duty, Honor, Country' from mission statement Our responsibility to produce leaders to fight and win our nation's wars requires us to assess ourselves regularly." Superintendent Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland Steve Gilland https://lnkd.in/gFKCAQAG Duty, Honor, Country defines the underlying purpose of the what, how and for whom of the USMA. If not, why then the #USMA? There are several much less expensive alternatives, LTG; namely ROTC. Curricular adjustments can be made. The definition of #duty is a moral or legal obligation; a responsibility. The definition of #honor is high respect; esteem. #Country indicates that the primary duty of soldiers is to serve and protect the nation. A core component of mission. Duty, Honor, Country More than a motto. A core component of mission. The USMA's raison d'etre. But that is only part of the story. There is more. Who: cadets (in whom) How: Building capacity to lead When: four-year leader development program Where: West Point, NY Why: contribute to the country's defense Put it all together and what do we have? A bonafide mission. The mission of the United States Military Academy is to build within cadets throughout a four-year, continuously assessed, leader development program at West Point, NY, the capacity to lead others with honor, as a duty to contribute to the defense of the United States of America. Twas thus, and evermore. No change or wordsmithing required. Don't change that which is not broken. #westpoint #military #defense #unitedstatesofamerica #usarmy #usa

Leadership Thoughts for Pride Month There has been a lot of backlash lately about a Navy Special Warfare Command (i.e., SEALs) Facebook post that featured the words, "NSW DIGNITY SERVICE RESPECT EQUALITY PRIDE" on a rainbow flag. Considering the "team" mentality of NSWG, I am surprised that the current NSWG leadership endorses this approach. The problem with this post is not the Navy's position on LGBTQIA+ sailors, but rather, it the the fact that we recognize them as a distinct group. This flies in the face of every aspect of our military and Navy training. We are taught and trained to look past our differences and focus on our mission. We function best as a team, not as individuals. We seek values that unite us, not divide us. HONOR. COURAGE. COMMITMENT. Those are the Navy's core values and our focus. We must not divide ourselves by heritage, education, politics, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Celebrating any grouping of servicemembers is divisive and only serves to weaken our team. When building a successful team, focus on the values that unite; not those which divide. #NAVY #CNO #NSWG #SEALS #LEADERSHIP #NAVYSPECIALWARFARE #MILITARY #PAO #PUBLICAFFAIRS #NAVYPUBLICAFFAIRS #KEITHDAVIDS #ANDYSCHREINER #DAVIDMARKLE #WALTERDITTMAR

Medal of Honor Monday: Sergeant William H. Carney Sergeant William H. Carney, born into slavery in Norfolk, Virginia 1840, became one of the most remarkable figures in American military history. Escaping the bonds of slavery through the Underground Railroad, Carney later joined the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, one of the first Black regiments to fight in the Civil War. On July 18, 1863, during the assault on Fort Wagner in South Carolina, Carney's courage was unparalleled. As the color bearer carrying the American flag, he faced relentless enemy fire. Despite being wounded multiple times, Carney never let the flag touch the ground. He planted it on the fort's ramparts and, even as the battle raged on, carried it back to his regiment, ensuring it remained aloft. Carney's commitment to the flag and his fellow soldiers was extraordinary. His actions symbolized the fight for the Union and embodied the struggle for freedom and equality. Despite the grave personal risk, his bravery under fire is a testament to his steadfast dedication to his country and his belief in its ideals. Sergeant Carney was finally awarded the Medal of Honor in 1900, nearly 37 years after his heroic actions. The delay was due to the slow bureaucratic processes of the time, compounded by the racial prejudices that often overlooked the contributions of Black soldiers. Despite this delay, the recognition of Carney's bravery remains a significant and enduring legacy. #usarmy #usmarines #usmc #usairforce #airforce #usnavy #navy #uscg #coastguard #military #veterans #informationsecurity #cybersecurity #technology #future #careers #socialmedia #strategy #leadership #inspiration #success
