I joined Greenough Communications just over a year ago with the support of an amazingly talented leadership team of Christine Williamson, Jen Heady, Jessika Parry, and Kenneth Craig – and newly added, but I can’t imagine us without her – Nicole Murphy, and a vision. Together, we will make it a reality. I’m incredibly grateful - and honored - to follow in the footsteps of Phil Greenough. Over the last 25 years, he founded and led Greenough through several incredible inflection points across the #technology, #healthcare, and #energy industries and provided us with a proven playbook to tackle the ones yet to come. From Fortune 500 companies to the many startups, he was there penning new narratives and disrupting markets. His mark on the communications field and this agency is undeniable, and I look forward to continuing his legacy. What’s next is still unwritten, but what I do know is we will: ➡ Have fun defining the “new rules” for agencies to live by. As Eleanor Hawkins recently said, the “challenger firms” will be the ones that have senior leaders who walk side-by-side with their clients, deliver the strategy, and generate the results vs. relying on those who are just cutting their teeth in the field. That model is broken. We are an agency of experienced, creative practitioners who love what we do and still get a high while doing it. We are the challenger firm she speaks of, and we are rising. https://lnkd.in/eiUDJNbq ➡ Hone in on our “Zones of Genius.” Our Guest Lecture series, featuring industry experts sharing insights on their journey, innovative tools, and lessons from their experiences, remains a cornerstone. Additionally, our quarterly one-on-one trainings go beyond mere support; they're about uplifting each other to ensure our clients are receiving the best work and have our best minds working together to deliver that work. It's not just about being on the team; it's a mindset that consistently revolves around our clients, focusing on how we can continuously enhance and deliver exceptional results. ➡ Be present. This remote world can be distracting, and it can feel monotonous. But collectively, we will be keeping each other focused and present. Present as trends start bubbling up to the surface, at industry events and client summits, in the ever-changing world and all its teachings for us to be and operate at our best. Let’s do this, Greenough team!! And thank you, Jess Ruderman, for taking the time to meet with me and for this great piece in PRWeek! bit.ly/3StNsT4
After 25 years at the helm, our founder Phil Greenough is passing the leadership baton, naming Nikki Festa O'Brien as our new CEO! Since day 1 at Greenough, Nikki has pushed our team to deliver results, provided best-in-class service to our clients, and expanded Greenough's client roster. We could not be more excited to celebrate our 25th year anniversary with these new developments, grounded in our continued mission to create moments that matter. https://lnkd.in/eXQRahDn

While going through some boxes in my basement, I found two pretty significant pieces of American business history: The preliminary prospectuses of companies once ranked among the Black Enterprise 100s listings of the nation’s largest Black-owned businesses. Only true aficionados of business icon Reginald F. Lewis will remember that he considered an initial public offering in 1989 that would have made TLC Beatrice International the first Black-owned company to trade on the New York Stock Exchange (a feat that Robert L. Johnson achieved with BET Holdings two years later). Lewis ultimately chose not to purse the IPO. In 1987 (the year Lewis completed his historic acquisition of Beatrice International Foods), another BE 100s enterprise, Lawson National Distributing Co., also considered an IPO, to be led by Daniels and Bell, the trailblazing Black-owned Wall Street firm helmed by the legendary Travers J. Bell Jr. The CEO of Lawson was Daniel C. Lawson; the company provided goods and services to the nation’s public transportation systems, and was a top 10 company on the BE 100s in the 1980s. Neither company ever completed their IPOs. However, meeting and chronicling the achievements of Black business titans such as Lewis, Lawson and Bell are among the things I value most about my career at Black Enterprise Magazine. Finding these documents once again reminds me of just how blessed I am. #TheSuccesspert #itsgoodtobeme #Godisgood #BE100s #blackbusinessmatters #blackfounders #blackbizlegend #blackbusiness #blackenterprise #reginaldflewis #RFL #traversbell

Michele Cerezo Natal, 49, is a partner at Mayer Brown in New York. In a recent Q&A with Law.com, she spoke about how she became partner. Here's a question about what made her partner material. 𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿? 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲? 𝗔 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁? 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲? A: "I think the firm made me a partner because I was already operating like one. I was developing business, thinking strategically about my practice area, and taking leadership roles at the firm." --- Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gXZjzp33
