Programmatic trading is revolutionizing the DOOH industry, but the surge in programmatic adoption doesn't necessarily mean a windfall of new ad revenue (yet). Here's why 👇 There’s a misconception around whether “additional” revenue is actually incremental - newly formed budgets built for purpose - or whether money is simply being redirected from OOH specialists or traditionally traded deals. And there's a few reasons celebrating that kind of shift as a victory of 'incremental revenue' will detriment PDOOH players, and the OOH sector in general: 👉 Buyers will only see results from a PDOOH campaign if the buy is enhanced by it - whether that’s creatively, through precision targeting, integrating with other mediums or activating on triggers 👉Trading ‘simple’ DOOH campaigns (set time, budget, locations, creative) programmatically only serves to increase the cost to buyers with unnecessary tech fees and middle-men 👉 Discounting the merits of static inventory simply because it doesn’t fit into the exciting PDOOH bubble is a detriment to buyers - shifting budgets to digital without quantifying it to keep up with trends won’t bring results The key here is strategic adoption.
