So many of us are embroiled in a fight - for justice, for equality, for visibility... and fighting is hard and it's worthy. - BUT - What happens if we win? Torrie Weiston-Serdan from Youth Mentoring Action Network points out that sometimes we get so wrapped up in the fight, so invested in being right and winning that we haven't invested enough in what comes next. Think about that. If we focus solely on abolishing unfair systems but don't dream and innovate so that we can implement next steps once those systems are gone... do we really win? Take the time to dream and to work on what that looks like. What comes next after we win? This is where real innovation is needed. #EqualityMatters #FightForChange #BeyondTheFight

Achieving social justice requires promoting indigenous knowledge and resisting colonial narratives. Decolonization and anti-racism are essential to dismantling systemic inequalities, challenging racism, and addressing cultural erasure. These efforts empower African societies to reclaim our identity, restore dignity, and build a future rooted in equity and diversity, contributing to a more just and inclusive global society. #DARC2024 #endcolonialmindset #centrelsd

At EBLM, our anti-racism initiatives are rooted in integrity and truth, aiming to correct the inconsistencies often overlooked by mainstream narratives. By highlighting the contradictions within purported anti-racist support for institutions with problematic histories, we strive for a more coherent approach to combating racism. #EBLM #AntiRacism #IntegrityAndTruth #InclusiveNarratives #CombatRacism #ProblematicHistories #CorrectInconsistencies #MainstreamNarratives #CoherentApproach #SocialJustice #DismantleRacism #ConsciousnessRaising #EmpowerMarginalizedVoices #DisruptBias #EducateEmpowerChange #StandUpSpeakOut #Intersectionality #SupportDiversity #ChallengeInequality #EndSystemicRacism #PromoteEquity #SolidarityNotCharity #HumanRightsNow #JusticeForAll #SystemicChangeNeeded #SharingDiverseStories #AdvocateForJustice #DiversityAndInclusionMovement

This is how we work. A reflection of our feminist engagement vs management.
In a world where traditional management often prioritizes control and hierarchy, WOREC stands as a flagbearer for feminist engagement—where the focus is on empowerment, collaboration, and breaking the chains of structural inequality. Feminist engagement at WOREC isn’t just a methodology; it’s a transformative force that challenges the status quo, dismantles oppressive systems, and rebuilds them on the foundation of equity and justice. https://lnkd.in/g9cyfyX8

Intersectionality is an analysis of systems of power and domination. It helps to explain how legal and other life-shaping arrangements lift up some populations and hold down others, including Black and Minoritised Ethnic people. Intersectionality is a reminder that organised racism, misogyny, class interests, ableism, homophobia and so on are interconnected – though not the same. And getting inside the concept can help to ensure more powerful and nuanced endeavours for anti-racism and race equity. Mobilising intersectionality for practical anti-racism and broader equitable outcomes has proved challenging. To move forward, it is important to foreground oppressive systems. Facing Race, organized biennially by Race Forward, aims to empower individuals and organizations to effectively address and dismantle systemic racism, fostering a more equitable and just society. Beneficial State Foundation was proudly represented at Facing Race by Angelique Cooper, D. Priscila Villanueva, Erin Kilmer Neel, and Francis Janes. In this moment, when there are strong headwinds against efforts to build a more financially inclusive world, our team remains committed to sharing best practices and helping all financial institutions make progress on serving historically under-resourced and marginalized communities—especially communities of color. #FacingRace #RaceForward #EconomicJustice #FinancialJustice

Enjoyed penning this contribution on behalf of CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation to the #GlobalNation #2024GlobalSolidarityReport . Thank you Anna Hope Hassan Damluji 'Corrupt autocrats are undermining the legitimate aspirations of young people and future generations by clinging to power through repression and divisive politics....In this scenario, it’s vital that concerned citizens and justice-oriented civil society organisations can act. History shows us that resolute protest movements and creative voluntary efforts can usher in significant transformations, even within a short period of time....Despite the many constraints, success stories demonstrate that global solidarity across civil society is still alive and well. A youthful generation increasingly connected by online activism is emerging to lead today’s impressive intersectional civic movements, demanding progress on contemporary scourges such as war crimes, genocide, economic inequality, gender based violence and climate change. https://lnkd.in/gdE5veqE
