CIDETEC arouses the interest of Japanese companies Automotive companies from #Hiroshima visited CIDETEC today to learn about our innovation and expertise. The visit was included within a global strategic commercial mission to the Basque Country, aimed at strengthening links between the automotive industries of both regions and exploring opportunities for collaboration. Oscar Miguel Crespo Deputy Director of CIDETEC Energy Storage and Dra. Alaitz Rekondo, Head of Polymers & Composites Unit at CIDETEC Surface Engineering have guided the delegation explaining our expertise in areas such as the recycling of batteries and plastic parts from vehicles at the end of their useful life, and the use of composites and other materials for weight reduction. The delegation of companies from the Japanese city of Hiroshima, led by the Digital Manufacturing Education and Research Center of the Hiroshima University included Ryuichi Hayashi, director of the digital research center at the Hiroshima University , along with Kohei Amano and Satoshi Furukawa, also from the same center. Also, Katsuaki Kushioka, director of the Center for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence and Data at the Hiroshima University ; Toshihide Kimura, section manager at the Technical Development Center of Hirotec Corporation; and Hiroshi Masaki, director of Aluminum Industry. Likewise, the mission has included representatives of large Japanese companies such as @Mazda, with the participation of Junichi Ogawa, principal engineer of its Technical Research Center, and Junichiro Yamashita, group manager at the DaikyoNishikawa Corp, who have explored opportunities in the development of advanced materials. The technical challenges of mass production for all-solid-state batteries are mainly concentrated in the preparation of battery electrodes and electrolyte membranes, as well as the densification of the battery. Due to the different electrochemical and physical properties of materials, various processes can have a significant impact on the thickness and ionic conductivity of the solid electrolyte membrane.
