Taking a moment to recognize the true meaning behind Memorial Day. It's more than just a holiday; it's a solemn tribute to honor U.S. military personnel who lost their lives serving our nation. Today, we remember the freedom brought by their courage, and it's our duty to honor their memory by upholding the values they fought for. Have you ever wondered what core values the DoD and each Service live by? Here they are: DoD: Duty, Integrity, ethics, honor, courage, and loyalty. Army: Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. Marine Corps: Honor, courage, and commitment. Navy: Honor, courage, and commitment. Air Force: Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. Coast Guard: Honor, respect, and devotion to duty. Many people know what these words mean, but how often do we see someone actually live up to them? A question worth asking ourselves, and a great day to begin living by these values as a way to honor our history and freedom. As we enjoy this day, let's take a moment to reflect, to honor, and to remember the true essence of Memorial Day. Let's honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and strive to live up to the values they fought for. #MemorialDay #HomeoftheFree #HonorThem 🇺🇸

My thoughts on this Memorial Day in the United States of America.
Monday is Memorial Day in the United States when we salute our soldiers and veterans. Dear Friends and Colleagues, This year on Memorial Day in the U.S.A. I am in a somber mood with all of the conflicts occurring throughout the world. So many soldiers and civilians worldwide have been wounded or died while fighting or just being in harm’s way. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the serving soldiers and veterans who work or worked tirelessly to protect our democracy. I also appreciate the spouses, families and friends who support our soldiers during and after their active service. My prayers continue for the soldiers and their families who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. God bless you all and God bless America. Sincerely, Kathleen Davey Mistry Sister of a retired/deceased U.S. Navy Seal.

As we prepare to enter into the official US Military Veteran’s Day, some helpful reminders: 1) This day is for people who serveD, past tense. Important distinction. We are grateful for those currently serving but we only get one day of recognition. Please let us have 11/11. 🫡 2) We are very much alive. Memorial Day is in May (Though our fallen are veterans too). ☺️ Important distinction. 3) We only get one day, sometimes two days, for mass veteran discounts. Please help us by not overcrowding places where we can enjoy saving a few pennies for one day only. 😘 important distinction. 4) An endorsement not related to my employer: please check out Mission 22 and the awesomeness they are doing for veterans and their spouses. 5) Go Navy!!! Important distinction. #veteransday2023 #navyveteran #veteranpsa

There are three different variations of the National Medal of Honor. Each medal symbolizes the values of Courage, Integrity, Commitment, Sacrifice, Citizenship, and Patriotism. Today, we highlight the special features that make up the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard Medal. Laurel & Oak Leaves: Clusters of laurel and oak leaves located on each of the star's five points represent victory and strength. 34 Stars: The 34 stars encircling the insignia are equal to the number of stars on the U.S. Flag in 1862. Each star represents a state, from both Union and Confederate states. Minerva: The Roman Goddess of Wisdom and War, Minerva is depicted warding off a man clutching snakes in his hand, meant to represent discord. The shield in Minerva's right hand is representative of the Union of our States, while the bundle of rods and axe blade in her left is symbolic of authority. The owl perched on her helmet is a symbol of wisdom.
