Team SBA New Hampshire District Office continuing to celebrate #NationalRetailersMonth. Our own Tuesday Perkins visiting a local bookstore, Mansfield's Books. Showing our support for #shoplocal and #shopsmall.
It was great to take a moment and visit a locally-owned and operated bookstore. I love to read, and to find a bookstore that is so close with options is fantastic! Mansfield's Books and more has a great selection of gently used books for children and adults. Children's books are grouped together by author and series. There is a large section on New England and New Hampshire books. Located at 277 Main Street, Tilton, NH. #nhsba #tuesdaytalks #independentretailermonth SBA New Hampshire District Office #reading #tiltonnh

As you may be aware, most small businesses face a new requirement to report Beneficial Ownership Information to the to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), which is part of the U.S. Treasury Department. To control against illicit finance, the Corporate Transparency Act of 2021 requires many companies doing business in the United States to report information about who ultimately owns or controls them. As there are penalties connected with non-reporting, the SBA Office of the National Ombudsman and its Fairness Regulatory Board are supporting outreach to ensure our nation’s new and existing small businesses know of this requirement and to promote awareness of how to comply. We ask that you visit the FinCen website directly to learn more about the requirement and whether it affects you, and to share this new reporting requirement with a fellow small business. https://fincen.gov/boi About the SBA Office of the National Ombudsman The National Ombudsman assists small businesses, small government entities, and small nonprofits when they are subject to excessive enforcement by a federal agency. Excessive enforcement may include repetitive audits or investigations, excessive fines, penalties, threats, retaliation or other unfair enforcement action. SBA New Hampshire District Office enjoyed meeting Sally and Tom and hearing how federal programs and SBA partners helped them reduce their energy costs
Andrea O'Brien, SBDC's Business Sustainability Program Director & Business Advisor, and Sally Wilkins, co-owner of Wilkins Lumber, met when their kids went to school together. Andrea knew SBDC could offer support to Wilkins Lumber. When asked what the support of NH SBDC has meant for Wilkins Lumber long term, Sally states, “the SBDC has kicked us into the next generation, into having a future that goes on.” Wilkins Lumber is the proud recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Family-Owned Business of 2024. Sally is also proud to report that Wilkins’ logger was awarded the NH Timberland Owners Association Best Logger for 2024. Read their story at https://lnkd.in/eKcs4dT7
