  • Exciting news for Native-American owned small businesses in Utah! 📢 The U.S. Small Business Administration announced a groundbreaking funding opportunity under the new Native American Trade Expansion Program (NATEP). This pilot program will provide up to $240,000 in grants to help Native American-owned small businesses expand their exporting opportunities. Marla Trollan, Utah District Director, highlighted the importance of this initiative: "This program is a significant step forward in assisting Native American-owned small businesses to reach larger markets, supporting their growth and strengthening local Native economies."   • Exciting news for women veterans and military spouses in Utah! The Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) program will be hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah. This premier training initiative, part of the SBA’s recent Women Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Program (WVETP) grant award, is designed to empower women veterans and female military spouses/partners with the skills and knowledge necessary to launch and grow their own businesses.  This comprehensive entrepreneurial training initiative, managed by Syracuse University's D'Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families - IVMF Families, offers: • 15-day online course • 3-day in-person residency • 12 months of ongoing support Eligible participants include women veterans, active-duty service members, and military spouses/partners.   • Big news for Utah's small business community! 🎉 The U.S. Small Business Administration has expanded the Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones) program in our state, opening exciting new opportunities. Thanks to the hard work of Governor Spencer J. Cox, the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, and the SBA team here in Utah, six new areas have been designated as HUBZones: 📍 Millard County 📍 Census tract 9603.02, Box Elder County 📍 Census tract 9606.02, Box Elder County  📍 Census tract 9607.01, Box Elder County 📍 Census tract 9601, Wasatch County 📍 Census tract 9604.01, Wasatch County What does this mean for small businesses in these areas?     Announced today: SBA is launching a new 7(a) Working Capital Pilot Program! The program offers a newly structured line of credit, made by 7(a) lenders and backed by the SBA, designed to give greater flexibility than a traditional term loan. This pilot program represents a significant expansion of SBA’s loan programs by adding a line of credit product with an innovative fee structure designed to increase flexibility for small businesses and lenders, providing more options when structuring a line of credit to meet specific business needs.   • Exciting News for Utah's Small Businesses Ecosystem 🌟 The US Small Business Administration is thrilled to announce recent grants awarded to three remarkable Utah organizations, driving growth and innovation in our community. Empowering Women Veterans: The Utah Veteran Business Resource Center (VBRC) at Salt Lake Community College has secured a $75,000 grant for the Women Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Program (WVETP). This grant supports the STRIVE program, helping women veterans overcome unique business challenges and succeed as entrepreneurs. This funding totals over $300,000 over the next four years. Growth Accelerator Fund Awarded to two Utah Organizations: 1. UAMMI (Utah Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Institute): Awarded $50,000 as a Stage One winner of the Growth Accelerator Fund Competition. UAMMI continues to foster innovation and support small manufacturers in Utah. 2. Altitude Lab: Also a Stage One winner, receiving $50,000 to launch the Horizon program. This initiative connects biotech startups with vital commercial partnerships, helping bring their innovations to market. These grants highlight the SBA's commitment to empowering Utah's entrepreneurs and driving economic prosperity.
