  • On the evening of July 11, Lawrence traveled to Baton Rouge to participate in the 2024 Community Hurricane Preparedness Resource Fair hosted by Congressman Troy Carter's Office and Councilman Darryl Hurst, Council District E. In her comments, Lawrence discussed SBA's resources available for preparedness, recovery, and resiliency. In addition to SBA, the Resource Fair included representatives from USDA, FEMA, GOSHEP, Louisiana Department of Insurance, Red Cross, Cajun Navy, Demco, Entergy, Baton Rouge Department of Public Works, and others.

  • Jo Ann Lawrence, DDD, was pleased to join the National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Foundation during Essence Festival week for Acres Soul of the Soil: Rooted in the Future - Cultivating Tomorrow Empowering Luncheon. Lawrence participated on a panel where the discussions spotlighted the systemic disparities that have long affected the field of farming, particularly for Black farmers. These powerful presentations not only unearthed the deep-rooted challenges they face but also sowed the seeds of change for a more equitable future in agriculture. Kelisha Garrett, Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Foundation, moderated the panel. In the presentation, among other things, Lawrence was recognized as a true trailblazer who has paved the way for future generations and contributed to a more inclusive and prosperous community.
