I work with women and couples using a variety of approaches to address relational and personal concerns. My clients often seek couples or marriage counseling at a point where they believe their relationships are beyond repair. Communication has broken down, they lack trust, and intimacy no longer exists. Giving yourselves a chance to address this in therapy increases your chance of resolution. The goal of individual therapy to empower you to be your best self and find passion and joy in life. We’ll address everything you’re feeling, explore new options, and together develop a plan to help you reach your dreams and self-potential.

As a Filipina/Asian American, I understand the difficulties and stigma of being vulnerable with a stranger and being open to one’s personal difficulties. I strive to create a safe and inviting environment for my clients by accepting and understanding my client’s worldview and truth. I see myself as a guest in each of my client’s worldview who is there to assist in self-discovery, growth, and reflection. My counseling background has focused on assisting neurodivergent clients navigate their worldview and the various challenges and victories they face.

We often hear the phrase “In life, there are no guarantees.” However, that’s not completely accurate. One thing that is inevitable in life is that there will be change. Sometimes it is subtle, small in comparison to the grand scheme of the things we are facing. At other times, change hits us with the force of a ton of bricks, stopping us in our tracks and negatively impacting our daily lives. It is at these times that our mental, emotional, and physical health becomes susceptible to life's stressors and where we may suffer a decline in our quality of life. You don't have to face these times alone.

I am passionate about people! This includes individuals, adults, children, couples, and families. My entire career has focused on educating adults, students, children, and/or families with the skills they need to succeed. My clients describe me as warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. My work with clients focuses on emotional and/or behavioral issues using primarily, a combination of CBT and DBT approaches. These issues may include family problems, adjustment, life transitions, relationships, communication, depression, self-esteem, anxiety, or trauma.

My clients often tell me that they've been putting on the happy face for everyone else while inside they are exhausted from pretending to be someone they're not. My clients don't want to be snapping at their spouses or kids, but they feel like they are always on edge. They ask me to help them break the cycle to live the life they've always wanted.

People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner. I don’t try and control a sunset.” I watch with awe as it unfolds (Rogers, 1980). In my therapeutic work over the past 15 years I have been uniquely fortunate to watch as potential and destiny unfolds for clients. In my clinical roles I fully espouse a person-centered strength-based focus and approach with clients, to the end of collaborative problem solving with your concerns and goals at the heart of our work together.

Skye McIntyre is a trauma therapist who focuses on working with adults and couples. She enjoys helping people develop relationships between their True Self and parts that were created in childhood. Skye utilizes Person-Centered Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is Internal Family Systems informed and EMDR certified. Skye has developed her own therapeutic tool: The Tree. Skye is available Monday through Thursday for online and in-person appointments at the SkyeHelps office in Dahlonega, Georgia.
