Welcome! I’m glad that you are here today; taking the first steps to find a therapist and begin treatment is courageous. I work diligently to ensure the therapy space is an inviting, supportive, and comfortable space for you to begin your exploration and growth. I believe an important part of therapy is making sure that you have a strong, positive relationship with your therapist, so I work hard to ensure we have time and space to get to know one another. I work with adolescents and adults with various experiences and reasons for seeking help. I use aspects of CBT, mindfulness, and self-compassion to individualize your care.

I entered the mental health field, striving to de-stigmatize the idea of asking for help, providing support, and to start necessary conversations. I work with clients who would like to build their own strength, identify coping strategies and heal from issues that have not been dealt with yet. I have a passion for helping women of color improve their mental health and overall wellbeing through therapy.

I have been practicing in the field for 4 years and am continuing to grow and evolve. My ideal client is someone motivated for change and understanding of self. I primarily work with clients (16 years old+) who are high schoolers, college-aged, and young adults trying to navigate the world. I am currently a doctoral student in Counseling, Education and Supervision and am always learning new treatment interventions through an anti-oppressive lens. I greatly enjoy helping people understand and manage their symptoms related to anxiety, uncertainty, imposter syndrome, motivation and identity.

There are many reasons that bring diverse people to seek out help and support, from unexpected life changes, developmental changes and challenges to experiencing significant traumatic experiences. Responses to stress can show up as increased anxiety, changes in behavior and tools that have previously been used to manage stress are not working anymore. As a Therapist I believe it is my role to create a safe environment and provide a space people are comfortable talking about the cause of their stress.

Hello! I have been in the mental health field for 15 years and I love what I do. I spent years working at a sexual assault survivor organization, a dual diagnosis treatment center for women, and in private practice. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in both New York and Florida and a Licensed Clinical Profession Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. I am a mom and a partner who understands the chaotic and messy nature of life. I believe everyone needs and deserves a place and time to show up authentically, feel heard, and be able to figure out how to make life a little easier.

Are you a high achiever dealing with anxiety, low self esteem and lack of confidence? Is negative thinking creating imposter syndrome where you simply are not reaching your full potential? Is your past co-existing in your present moment causing disruptions in healthy relationships and other important areas of your life? Are you always saying yes to others leaving very little room for taking care of yourself? If you can relate to any of these statements and feelings, I could be a good fit to help address your current life needs.

Hi! I'm Joy, an LCSW licensed in CT, MD, and NY. (Not accepting clients at this time). My private practice serves adults who identify as Black, People of Color, and African immigrants. These individuals have endured multiple stressors and trauma; and wonder if therapy is right for them or can help them get better. If this is you and you are a resident of these three states, we may be a good fit. I am a trauma therapist and will engage with you to dismantle your childhood and past. With this insight, we will begin to heal and then recreate an adaptive present and hopeful future.

In a non-judgemental, respectful atmosphere I accompany people along their journey to living richer, more meaningful life. I encourage people to broaden their awareness into their thoughts, feelings, reactions and behaviors to identify strengths and whats working and challenges and how they are getting in the way. Recognizing the the mind-body-spirit connection, understanding healthy and antiquated defenses and increasing capacity for feeling a greater range of emotions at a deeper level is an important focus of the psychotherapy process. Identifying feelings, understanding reactions and learning better, more effective means of communicating with others is integral as well.

I provide virtually services in MD and VA. I believe we all have a purpose! Sometimes it is hard for us to fulfill our purpose because of how we interpret what we go through in life. Life can be difficult, especially when you are navigating through life events that have become overwhelming. With a wealth of experience, diverse modalities, and a passion for helping clients discover their strengths, I believe in establishing rapport with clients by providing empathetic, culturally sensitive counseling as they confront the issues they’re dealing with.
