Welcome to my Psychology Today profile! My name is Ms. Sarah G. I received my graduate degree, a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. I decided to further my educational journey and return to post-graduate school in 2017. I received the Mental Health credentials and requirements for the LPC/CCTS. I have been in the mental health field for 10-plus years in all capacities: Federal and state level, inpatient, residential, and private practice. I am a warm, caring psychotherapist who has been practicing for over 23 years. I trained psychoanalytically at NYU Graduate School of Social Work, and have helped clients understand themselves and their behaviors so that they can enjoy their lives more fully. Maintaining our mental health requires a holistic approach. One that includes taking care of not only our mind but our body as a whole. That is why I treat my clients using a combination of talk therapy, body-based methods, mindfulness and naturopathic guidance. When healing trauma, simply putting things into words is not sufficient and could in fact be triggering. For this reason, I employ a Somatic Experiencing method to help clients safely access and work through their emotions and traumas stored in their muscle memory, which promotes healing of a wide range of conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and childhood abuse.
