Greetings! I'm Chera, and I have focused the scope of my private practice on very specialized (and desperately underserved) groups at high risk of suicidality within our community. Since 2016 I‘ve been helping our veterans/military with PsychArmor training, later realizing no one had the backs of our law enforcement. For this reason, I earned my certification as a first responder counselor and peer support team leader/trainer to provide crisis, cumulative trauma, and emotional agility training for our first responders.

I have had the privilege of witnessing people undergo the slow, extremely subtle and remarkable journey of healing and self-transformation. This process of psychological growth is astoundingly complex, multilayered, circular and even mysteriously numinous in its unfolding. My philosophy as a therapist is primarily on core transformation rather than merely symptom management and needless to say, I strongly believe in the centrality of the therapeutic relationship as a significant healing agent. Moving towards our wholeness necessitates the courage to first move into the wounded parts that we all have as members of the human species.

As a mental health professional, I bring nearly a decade of experience to benefit clients from a broad range of backgrounds. My professional style is holistic, high-energy, compassionate, organized, and solution focused with motivation to assist clients in meeting their needs and develop skills through therapeutic treatment to achieve their optimal level of emotional health. My training at the Yale Child Study Center provided me with an invaluable experience and a unique perspective on how to approach children, adolescents, families, and adults. I also have received additional training as a Strong Star Network Provider, LGBTQ+ ally and trainings, am a Trauma Informed Care provider, and have Forensic Evaluation training and experience. I hope that by helping you find the strength within we can work together in facilitating a process of change. I am able to assist with both counseling and forensic evaluations needed for pre-adoptive social studies, immigration and child custody evaluations.

I often spend a lot of time working with folx around healthy relationships, attachment, trauma healing, the complexities of identity, and I work from an anti-oppressive practice lens. I often bring considerations of intersectionality and privilege into the room. I identify as Queer and Biracial myself, and often support folx in these realms. I like to have a consultation with folx to see if we are a good fit, and think it's important for folx to find the therapist that is right for them.
