I decided that most of the fun stuff in the cell prior to this was done. Fun stuff being everything that doesn’t involve coding, because I am a bit angry today so that would’ve been entirely contraproductive.

I’ve made my first custom ImageSpace! I might go back and make a custom one for my first cell as well, since that one never felt dark enough, which for various reasons is somewhat a disadvantage.

I am very happy with the general atmosphere I managed to make here. You might have to fullview the pictures for that reason because darkness makes it hard to see when that tiny and surrounded by light background.

It’s been about three months since I touched my mod last time, and the first thing I did was to not take a backup and then continue to severely mess up a cell by duplicating it with the idea that, well, if I duplicated the cell and deleted half of what was in it, that would be easier than to copy scripts and everything to a new cell (because that I tried and no work).

Ahem.

What happened was that mysteriously one of the props I used disappeared entirely, even from the cell I hadn’t modified. Go figure.

So I had to start out by fixing that, which made me very cranky. Then I decide to go about retouching this level a bit - exchanging the clunky-and-impossible-to-jump-on blocks with tables, so that the jumping puzzle doesn’t drive you uselessly insane.

Then I went crazy with bridges and stuff. Gotta add some more trees and surroundings to the jumping area, because as exciting as it sounds, jumping around in the blackness is not very entertaining at all.

So it turns out, if  you want to assign a whole bunch of items to an xmarker at once - like if you organized a really tidy little place and don’t feel like going through all the items idividually - you can do that by having them all selected and right clicking and choosing edit in the cell view window.

Boy, do I wish I knew that sooner :U it makes things so much easier!

I’m feeling a bit out of it lately, so here’s compilation of some old WIP screenshots that you may or may not have seen earlier.

Meanwhile, I’m sitting around with this hand drawn map, staring at it trying to muster up the ability to can. Said ability seems pretty unwilling to come out and play, which might be because it’s half past four in the morning.

Spoiler alert: I’ve got 51 platforms to place, with about as many corresponding trigger boxes and whatnot. I shouldn’t have counted them. I shouldn’t have counted them…

Then again, when it comes to building, I am native to the vast planes of minecraftia, and as such uh, placing 51 somethings is like placing less of a stack of somethings. It’s too late/early to try and practice positive thinking… I think it might be time to sleep.

Okay so this is maybe a more private build, in the sense that I built it as a memorial for a friend of mine who died in a traffic accident (he was a biker, bikers are squishy, be careful out there). It’s not a recent loss, but it’s one of those deaths that you just don’t get over - you just forget, bury the memory in your subconscious, until something happens that makes you remember, and bam. It hits you in the face like it was there and then.

I can’t believe I’m actually older than him now. And that I’ll continue to get older and he… won’t. It’s very unfair. He was such a positive, life loving, intelligent and empathic guy too (and he loved bees! He was actually doing research on bees, and if you got him started he’d literally talk your ears off about it - hence the beehives in there, and the flowers to make the bees happy, he would’ve really loved that). Some people drain you of energy, and then there are people that give you energy, and he was one of the latter.

And of course this memorial it’s going in my project, it’ll be tucked away in a place the player can choose to investigate or not, it’s not essential to the story at all, but I want it to be there. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to upload screenshots or not, but then I decided I wanted to.

As for work progress on the actual project:

Everything I made previously was made in aaamarkers (don’t look at me like that, I literally haven’t modded for even a month, and I’ve got like 85 measly hours logged in the CK, I’m noob and am therefore excused) so I had to spend a rather derpy while trying to research how to reset thing and move cell.

The thing I did was to create a new esp, empty, and open my previous esp as inactive, and then make sure that every last thing I was using in it was marked as modified. It was a lot. The fact that some stuff bugged out (textures on the blackreach lichen ceiling was one thing, I am still not sure why that happened, and it bugs me when I don’t understand things) made me very distressed, and I’m still worried something might’ve transferred wrong, though I’ve tested through the thing several times and it works.

Ah, but I digress; Just letting the world know I’m still doing things (even when I was trying to take a break after that massive cell-moveover).
