Perth-headquartered Australian Vanadium LImited's subsidiary VSUN Energy has moved a vanadium flow battery project to a design phase with the aim to develop a home-grown modular, scalable, turnkey, utility-scale battery energy storage system. #Renewables #Australia #Solarenergy

Realising AVL’s Utility-Scale Vanadium Flow Battery Strategy Analysis completed by VSUN Energy indicates the merits of a 4-hour 100MW VFB battery energy storage system (BESS) with a levelised cost of storage (LCOS) of A$274/MWh (± 30%). Such an LCOS for a VFB BESS would be competitive with the LCOS of similar lithium-ion BESS products currently in the market. Project Lumina is the development of a modular, scalable, turnkey, utility-scale BESS using VFB technology, for use in Australian energy markets. https://lnkd.in/gDy8BTrY #vanadium #VFB $AVL

AVL's CEO Graham Arvidson took part in a panel discussion at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) last week, on what a 'Future Made in Australia' means for the mining industry. Graham was joined by Rob Adamson from RFC Ambrian, Leigh Heaney from Smart Energy Council and Joshua Annear of Critical Minerals & Mining Strategy. Kate Dickson, General Manager of Operations for AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies) facilitated the panel. Graham highlighted the important role that the Australian Government Future Made in Australia plan can play in unlocking the vanadium supply chain, enabling scaling of vanadium electrolyte manufacturing, providing better access for opportunities to deploy VFBs in the energy grid and attracting manufacturers to Australia. The panel discussed the importance of the Future Made in Australia plan as an enabler to help Australia to not be left behind as the world transitions to a net zero economy. #vanadium #VFB $AVL

CEO Graham Arvidson participated in the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) panel entitled ‘Understanding Government Funding Options for Critical Mineral Projects’ alongside Frank van Rooyen from Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), Rimas Kairaitis from Alpha HPA and Daniel Smart from Export Finance Australia. Chaired by AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies) Kerry Atkins, the panel discussed the importance of engaging early with the four Australian Government agencies - NAIF, EFA, National Reconstruction Fund Corporation and Clean Energy Finance Corporation who work in conjunction with each other; how grants can be leveraged to help companies in early stages; keeping the Critical Mineral Office engaged to help understanding of alignment with government strategy and also engaging with commercial banks to help form the project debt package. #vanadium #VFB $AVL
